What is our general vibe on Ianto's university status? As far as I can recall it's only ever mentioned sporadically and never on screen. Perhaps even it only is ever mentioned in these two quotes (Skypoint and Almost Perfect. I don't think it's ever mentioned in Torchwood One and definitely isn't in Fragments.
We've heard about his GCSEs but never about A levels, so let's make an assumption that he took them in this version of events. He would have started at uni in September 2001 and, assuming it's some variation on a Bachelor of Arts, would have been there for three years. In Blind Summit, at the end of 2004, he is in London and so a three year degree can fit in there. August until the end of the year is then taken up with moving to London where he had at least two jobs and got a flat with his father.
But the question I have is would Ianto actually go to university? The Ianto who he became would, yes. But we know that the man Ianto became was a reinvention. He became someone different when he started working for Torchwood. Would the eighteen year old who got caught stealing and knew how to pick locks and hotwire a car choose to take A levels and go to uni?
To me it just doesn't fit. It's a very classic Torchwood piece of almost canon that I'm more than happy to just put aside.
Posting gay for gay month
Post 15/30 (erm how??)
We are 27 pages into Skypoint and Jack and Ianto have already had sex
Respect
hello?? where are all my claustrophobic!Tosh whump fics at????
Ianto stared at the thing that clung to the ceiling. It had no eyes, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that they were watching each other. His mind raced, trying to think of something he could do. He knew there was nothing. Instead, he tried to think of something that would make the last moments more bearable. He thought of Jack.

Remember when I was going to do regular updates on the books I read? Lol. Anyways here’s the books I mentioned before and very small reviews:
Burn For Me - one star for some excellent world building, one star for fun family dynamics, no more stars for a despicable romantic lead. Enemies to lovers is fine but like maybe spread that shit out over several books and not have the heroine go from “you kidnapped me and tortured me and I hate you” to “I touched his rock hard abs and swooned” in five pages. Like just a suggestion there. Also some frankly WEIRD decisions about the heroine’s background such as “both my parents are implied to be Indigenous except neither have any sort of tribal affiliation or any connection to any sort of culture so I’m just brown for exotic flavoring.”
Skypoint - 3.5 stars. Too much Gwen and Gwack, not enough Ianto, but LOTS of Tosh and also a decent amount of Weird Bodily Functions Issues from Owen and what do we interact with torchwood for if not for the weird bodily functions of aliens and alien adjacent beings?
Sword of Destiny - 3 stars. Eh. These are very obviously written by a man and I gotta be in a Mood for that so I’m gonna wait to read the next one until the new season comes out so I’m still excited to read it. I do really like the way he plays around with fairy tales and it’s fun to see how he twists them and I wish that element was in the show.
The Trouble With Hating You - I’ve literally been on the hold list for this this entire time so who knows when i’ll get it. this is why no one in my town uses ebooks, the hold lists are disgustingly long
I had to return Exodus Code bc it was overdue but I’ll come back to it. I also had to stop reading Ninefox Gambit because it is Not a good book to read at work lmao so I’m gonna read it after the semester is done and I can use my brain again.
I wrote like 1k in all of November for my Tamina book, but I wrote like 5k for a short story for class so there’s that.
💛
Today I learned that Ianto Jones had a degree in English Literature and History.
How did I not know this before?
Kinda hoping Big Finish do a story where is expertise in these subjects is needed.
