Whenever I begin to doubt the artistic pursuits I’ve been practicing, questioning if I will ever be good enough, if the market is already too saturated with hacks like me, or if I will get anywhere, I try to think about all the other pieces of media that didn’t get far, but which still brought me joy.
I remember the pulp paperbacks from thrift stores with lined spines, the graphic novels that I had to hunt down on ebay and at conventions because their runs were too short, and the shows that only lasted a season or two but which I still revisit.
The creators of these things will in all likelihood never know what their work meant to me and may even think that their effort didn’t amount to anything, but that doesn’t take away what it did for me.
Then I pick up my pencil and try to remember that if what I make brings some joy to someone then my work will have meant something.

What level are you when you get your bachelors in evocation?
Is adventuring part of your practicum/thesis research/internship?
Do you get tenure at level 20 or do you first need to figure out immortality?
