I feel deeply ashamed that at least once a week I have to go into my search engine and type "How to spell the silmarrililillion" and just copy and paste from the wiki because for the life of me my brain can never remember how to spell it 🫣😬😂

the general perception of the silmarillion as mostly as an inaccessible, dry text of elvish history isn’t entirely wrong and most likely the experience of reading the first time (or ever) won’t be visceral for the individual, yet i don’t agree about the characters not having motivations or depth. it’s a situation where the more you parse through it and become familiar with the larger picture of the myths, the more emotional and impactful the tales of the characters become- and tbh i would say “accessible” to contemporary audiences once one gets past the initial difficulty.

This is absolutely ridiculous but please hear me out 🙏 an Epic the Musical esque concept album/musical about Maglor making his journey back to Valinor well into the Fourth Age, like I'm talking after even Círdan leaves with the last ship (I was listening to Just a Man and it suddenly dawned on me) (yes this is stupid as hell)

This is so fucking stupid but I'm a whole bottle of energy drink in and I need to prepare for a test but I cannot stop talking about how tragic it is that the first time we are introduced to Gil galad is in FOTR when Sam sings a small part of the song and we are given a hint as to what happened to him , and then in Silmarillion you are like "why the fuck did he turn into the charred shawarma meat I tried making a few weeks ago?"
