The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is Peter Jackson's opening film of the trilogy of movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel series. The movies are considered some of the last films to masterfully use practical effects and miniatures (some of which were referred to as "bigatures" because they were so large for miniatures), in combination with CGI and other modern VFX methods. Released in 2001, the movie was both the most recent movie added to the American Film Institute's 2007 list of the 100 Greatest American Films in History, and the only one added from the 21st century. The story follows the adventures of Frodo Baggins and his eponymous Fellowship of travelers, who seek to destroy the One Ring.
The score for the trilogy of films was composed by Howard Shore.
In The Mood for Love (original title: 花样年华, lit. Flower-Like Years) is a 2000 romantic drama film which was co-produced between studios in both Hong Kong and France. The story portrays the spouses of two coworkers who are found to be be having an extramarital affair. Though initially formally polite, in the process of investigating what is going on, as well as commiserating with one another, they fall in love.
The soundtrack was written by several composers; this track was written by Michael Galasso.
Spontaneous Violent Love Series 25 :: 25 years ago today, May 13, 2001, the Fellowship of the Ring celebrates the premiere of the Cave Troll scene from the film at the Cannes Film Festival (and the hobbits and Peter indulge in a proper rendition of the Drinking Song which eventually appeared in the extended version of the film). Showing up and showing out were Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Ian McKellen, Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, and Peter Jackson; they were later joined by Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne of New Line Cinema as well.
Spontaneous Violent Love Series 25 :: 25 years ago today, May 11, 2001, the Fellowship of the Ring cast attends their photocall at the Cannes Film Festival, before the premiere of an extended scene from the film a few days later. In attendance were the full fellowship of Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Ian McKellen, Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, and John Rhys-Davies, plus Liv Tyler and of course, Peter Jackson.
