DESERVE BETTER [WKM missing scenes]
Mark liked to remember them all – himself included – the way they were back then. Long before the divisions between them became so clear. Long before they started mattering at all. He’d turn to his memories and he’d mourn them like strangers that died far too soon. Childhood friends who never grew up. He no longer recognised them in the people they became.
or, hello, i'm writing a wkm fic! it explores the main four's early childhoods, teenagehoods, mark & celine's marriage, the affair, the fallout, the days leading up to the party... and eventually, it will end with some present-day darkstache scenes :))
basically, this fic is just going to be a long collection of missing canon scenes. if that interests you, i would appreciate it if you checked it out here!
i'm working really hard on chapter two already, focusing on mark's relationship with his mom :3 i'd love to see you there!!

Come Back to Sleep
Summary: One of Celine's fonder memories comes to Dark one night while he sleeps, resulting in an anxiety attack. WARNINGS: Celine/William, canon cheating, anxiety attack. Enjoy~
William rolled over in the middle of the night, his arm hitting the bed with a loud thud. He frowned. That shouldn't be right. He opened is eyes and saw he was lying alone. A quick glance to the door and he saw the flickering of a candle.
He groaned and swung his legs over the bed. Then he stepped out into the living room, where he saw the most beautiful woman in the world sitting alone, a book in her hands as she read by candlelight.
"Do my eyes deceive me, or do I see the wonderous Celine still awake?" William leaned in the doorframe and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Can't say you did much to tire me out." She teased back at her lover.
William placed his hand over his heart in mock offense. "Why I have never heard such insidious slander!"
"I would never have guessed you'd know the word 'insidious'. Isn't that two syllables too complicated for you?" She hid half her face behind her book, but William could tell from just her eyes she was smirking.
"Oh that does it!" William ran over, picked Celine up bridal style, and started to spin.
Celine yelped before bursting into laughter, clutching him. "William stop! You know how easily I get dizzy!"
"Oh I do know!" He cackled.
After a few more spins, he gracefully laid her across the couch. Celine was a laughing mess as the room spun. William was so much stronger than her husband. He could lift her with minimal effort, and she knew he would never drop her.
"You're thinking of him again." William's voice was somber, and brought her back to the present. "Is that why you can't sleep?" He sat beside the couch on the floor.
"This is his cabin." She told him, and William frowned. "We spent the first part of our honeymoon here."
"Celine-"
"William he was our friend." She looked him in the eye. "He doesn't deserve this. We shouldn't be doing this anymore."
William grumbled as he got back to his feet. As usual, he didn't want to talk about Mark. "He deserved this the day he started priortizing his work over you."
She sighed. Yes, he had done that. Ignored her for days at a time, and sent large bouquets to apologize. Then they would spend maybe a weekend together, then it would all repeat.
And lately, thanks to her, they wouldn't even have that weekend together. She was bitter, and William was surely helping that along.
But who could blame him? He was in love with her after all, was how William saw it. "You're starting to sound like Damien, wanting to give him chances and all that."
"Oh don't compare me to my big brother." She scrunched her nose, and William smiled at how cute she looked. "He's too forgiving."
"Agreed." William offered his hand. "Celine, come back to bed with me. Let's leave thoughts of that vile husband of yours behind, and enjoy the warmth of each other."
Celine looked at the candle, still burning, then back to him. With a soft smile, she blew the candle out and got up. She took his hand, and he gently lead her to bed, where she slowly fell asleep in his arms.
-
Dark woke up the next morning, tired still. His red aura flickered wildly behind him. He looked down at his hands. Damien's hands. His form had been the most amicable. So much had changed between then and now. So much anger, pain, betrayal and suffering.
He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. His body trembled, and tears fell from his eyes. Down the hall, he could hear the shouting of that lunatic, that man who had captured her attention all those years ago. The madman he became, all because of a little affair she had consented to. It was her fault. She fell in love, and when Mark found out, she left. She didn't stand by his side. This is her fault. She broke the mind of the only man she loved.
Dark's aura lashed out, and his shell cracked. He covered his ears and rocked a little in bed as guilt and sadness rushed over him. His window beside him cracked.
Slowly, blue seeped into his aura, and with it a wave of calm. No, no it was never their fault. It was Mark's, and they have to remember that. It's going to be okay, we'll be okay.
We'll be okay.
Dark took a deep breath. He reigned in his aura, now an even mix of red and blue, and his ringing quieted to a tolerable level. Finally relaxed, Dark got to his feet, ready to confront the day.

Title: No Such Comfort
Bullets whizzed by his head, dug deep into those who weren’t quick enough. He scrambled to reload his weapon, then aimed, and shot. Aimed, and shot. Each bang! jarred him. Every cry of pain rang in his ears, down to his very core.
Somewhere nearby, there was the high-pitched whistle of a bomb dropping-
“William!” He jolted awake to darkness, to cold sweat dripping down his forehead, and the words “take cover!” at his lips.
“William,” Celine said again, softly this time. He felt her gaze even in the pitch blackness of the room. “You were having a nightmare,” she whispered, “I heard you screaming.”
“Ah,” was all William was able to offer as an answer. His breath shook and rattled in his chest, and the pop-pop of bullets still echoed in his ears. He reached out for her, seeking the comfort of her presence, and she shifted closer, into his embrace.
“What were you dreaming about?” She asked the question even though she knew the answer already; he was dreaming the same dreams he’d had ever since he came home. Ones filled with blood and war and death.
“My apologies for waking you, darling.” William murmured instead. It was better for both of them that way.
She pressed a kiss to his chest, right over his frantically beating heart, then lay her head there. “It’s alright.”
“Go back to sleep,” he told her.
“But what about you?” She asked.
“I’ll be fine.”
He felt her slow, tired nod, and it wasn’t very long after that she was asleep once more, slumbering away in his arms.
William would find no such comfort. He lay awake for a long time, his stare fixed on the ceiling.
