Im on page 156 of Looking for Alaska, and (I know this is the point but) I'm so frustrated with Miles and the Colonel for not understanding that Alaska never *needed* a reason to be angry or sad. They don't understand the concept of depression, and they can't conceptualize the life she lived before they knew her, the shit she endured with her mom passing away, and whatever else she may have experienced and just didn't talk about.
again I know that's like the whole point is that she's this complex ununderstandable person and that they just don't get her but they love her and they want her. but I'm just getting pissed off at Miles and the Colonel reading through this

In fact, I do think he was. My main reason are the implications for Celine and Mark to have been happy at some point, as well as the trio, who is shown as a happy group of friends on the photos in Mark‘s room (before William and Celine ran off). The point of the tragedy was betrayal: Wich, in the context of the WKM plot, can only be tragic when occurring between friends who’ve been good for each other before. So, I believe so, yeah.
I think his malevolent character traits were always present in root, but they only started to take over his Logos with the entity’s takeover.
