Sedile Arryn, the Angel of the Vale
“Sedile Arryn seemed to personify the beauty of the Eyrie. A tall, slender woman of a graceful and poised disposition, she would appear just as airy and light as the clouds that surrounded her family’s seat. Long brown tresses that lay in waves down her back were often pulled to the back of her head, allowing her narrow, diamond-shaped face greater dominion over the chestnut locks. With blue eyes that looked markedly similar to the skies of the Vale and pale skin that hinted to the foggy weather of the region, her refined, elven-like appearance lent to the mystical essence that seemed to surround the Eyrie and the Vale, as a whole. Her pulchritude was not all that she offered to the House of Arryn and her husband, Denys Arryn, as she possessed a sharp wit that rivaled many in Westeros and a heart so full of love to her family that many would refer to her as the Angel of the Vale. However kind and benevolent she was considered to be, Sedile held no qualms in playing the game of thrones for the sake of her family and their prosperity, even if it would only serve to maintain their place at the Eyrie and their leadership of the Vale. She herself had no desire to lead, but held great pride in the legacy of House Arryn and was greatly determined to see their position as Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale, and Warden of the East remain within their bloodline. Ever privy to the fate of her uncle Jon and his wife Lysa, Sedile’s motivations were rooted in her efforts to avoid a similar downfall, and as House Arryn fell to the rule of her cousin, the sickly Robert Arryn, she would find it all but inevitable that she should prime her son to lead upon the young boy’s death. Her initial arrangements would fall apart as her husband, Denys, would die in battle in the North, leaving her vulnerable and in a much more similar position to that of Lysa than originally anticipated. From then on, her sole focus became keeping her son safe and preparing her son to rule the Vale upon the expected death of her cousin. Confident, competent, noble, and pure in appearance, the Angel of the Vale was a woman of great regard within Westeros, and while she led a life of elegance and composure, she would never shy from the game that would come to disrupt the realm.”
