Anyone else seen the second Bleach Tybw Trailer?
Because ho boy!
That's bad!
(Mind the tags, please!)
My thoughts on the 2nd BND trailer!
First things first—I absolutely adore the first clip between Peter and Scorpion. It’s noticeably different than the first clip of the leaked trailer, which was Peter and the Hand, whereas the rest of the trailer was the same. I’d say I like this opening scene better than the leaked one, because we to see more of Scorpion, as well as some of Peter’s inner dialogue about the changing of his body:
“What is happening to me? I’m losing my mind. I am totally out of control. I’ve gotta fix whatever this is right now.”
plus, more snippets of his black eyes. And oh my gosh, I love the black eyes
Now, they’ve released BND merch that entails a Spider-Man toy with “gamma webs”. Some people assumed that the green lights on his web shooters in the Empire photo with The Hand were these gamma webs, but considering how his web slingers are green in this shot as well, maybe it means something else?
Also, I think it’s insane just how much force his organic webs can provide. They not only launched his web slingers across the room, but genuinely shook the cabinet and knocked items from it.
And you have no idea how unbelievably hyped I am for the Peter and Bruce Banner dynamic. Bruce teasing Peter and Peter laughing it off (while also appearing wary) is genuinely one of my favorite scenes in the trailer.
And the whole “You’re not one of my students, are you?” clip actually supports one of my theories that I had with the first trailer, where Peter is simply pretending to be a student of Bruce’s, which is why he asks Peter his name. I’m just overall excited to see how their relationship is defined throughout this movie!
I find the “freezing” scene interesting, considering it doesn’t affect not only Peter, but Frank too. It was done by (assumably) Sadie Sink’s character—cough, cough, Jean Grey—so is this part of the reason it didn’t affect Frank? With Peter, it most likely has to do with his spider sense, in the way that he dodged Strange despite being separated from his body in NWH. But why Frank?
Moving onto the scene with Ned and MJ. Ned says the line, “Wait, you two don’t know each other?” referring to Peter and MJ. But how does Ned know Peter?
I love this clip as well, because it goes more into depth of this “threat we can’t even see.” This psychic (Jean Grey okay trust) jumps from person to person, taunting Peter. Making him feel like he’s losing it more than he already does. Marvel is really putting Peter through the wringer 😭
Then, of course, we have savage Hulk. FINALLY. Whether he’s being controlled by the psychic or something else is happening, I’m just so excited to see this again.
Other little screenshots that I loved but won’t go into because this is already a long post:
Except I will talk about the prison scene. Peter, bloody and destroyed. Peter, with absolutely nothing left to lose. I’m sorry, but the clip of him opening black eyes IS SO SICK
I’M SO READY FOR THIS MOVIE
The Rookie trailer for the 2nd midseason (I guess)
Even with a better trailer, Smurfs (2025) still doesn’t win me over
The second trailer for Smurfs (2025) is definitely a step up from the first. The animation is more polished, the pacing is better, and the trailer gives a clearer sense of the story. But despite those improvements, I still don’t like the direction this movie is taking—and as a longtime Smurfs fan, that’s disappointing to admit.
Let me be clear: I love the Smurfs. I grew up with the comics, the animated series, and everything that made the little blue characters so timeless. But this movie feels like it’s trying too hard to be trendy rather than staying true to the heart of the franchise. Instead of embracing the whimsy, simplicity, and charm that defined the original Peyo comics and the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, Smurfs (2025) leans into loud, flashy storytelling with awkward attempts at humor.
Take Papa Smurf, for example. When he delivers the line, “Now, that’s what I call a banger,” it’s not just cringeworthy—it’s wildly out of character. Papa’s always been a wise and grounded leader, not someone chasing modern slang for a cheap laugh. Moments like this signal that the writers are more interested in appealing to TikTok culture than respecting the source material.
The animation itself is visually energetic, but the blend of cartoony Smurfs with real-world Parisian environments just doesn’t work for me. It creates a tonal clash that makes the film feel disjointed and out of sync with its own identity. The addition of new characters like the “Paris Division of the International Neighborhood Watch Smurfs” feels gimmicky, not meaningful.
Even Rihanna’s dual role as producer and the voice of Smurfette, plus her new song of “Friend of Mine”, can’t salvage the trailer’s lack of charm. It all feels like surface-level flair with little of the sincerity that made earlier Smurfs media so enduring.
In fact, I’ve made my decision: I refuse to watch the movie or buy any merchandise tied to it. The only Smurfs products I’ll support are the repackaged editions of the classic comics—whether in English from Papercutz or in their original French versions. That’s where the true spirit of the Smurfs lives on.
Bottom line? The second trailer might be an improvement, but it still reinforces my belief that this reboot is a misguided reinvention of something that didn’t need fixing. It’s a shame, because the Smurfs deserve better.
