We all wear masks Of varying designs Much of the time, Itβs human nature. But eventually we meet Those we trust enough To remove it around; We sigh in relief to find It isnβt fused to our skin. When they tell us they like Whatβs underneath better, We donβt know whether to laugh Or cry from the sweet surprise, Especially when in the past The face behind the mask Was deemed unlovable.
Thereβs risk in unmasking, but if weβre only accepted while wearing one, are we truly accepted?
