Finally worked up the nerve to contact my university about the possibility of setting up accommodations for take-home exams. Namely, making them *not* take-home and instead taken at a scheduled time at the testing center under supervision, please. It’ll be more complicated than that, but I offered some suggestions that are hopefully reasonable!
I don’t even know if it’ll be relevant? I might not end up taking a single other take-home exam before I graduate. I’ve only had like three in the past four and a half years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But heck if I’m going to risk going through this on my own again, if I can help it.
Especially when I am apparently at risk of literally forgetting to do the exam when left to my own devices.
I mean seriously, I thought worrying about that possibility was just anxiety blowing what-ifs out of proportion but APPARENTLY NOT
/huffs
Anyway. If it was just the forgetting thing I might have brushed it off, I’m sure that’s happened to other folk.
But it’s also that talking myself into doing (long-answer) take home exams is like pulling teeth, forcing myself to keep working on them once I’ve started is also like pulling teeth, and even when I am somehow focusing I spend way more time and effort on my answers than I suspect (hope) the professors ever intended. Plus the fact that I feel 10 times more anxious about the whole thing than I ever feel about regular exams, because it feels too much like writing a paper and writing papers has gotten Bad these days.
....mmmyes.
Anyway.
That’s tonight’s vent / celebration of my choice to finally ask for help. :’)
The case was closely watched by disability rights groups who say there was a “nearly insurmountable barrier” for help sought by schoolchildr
accommodations are not excuses.

hey! i just wanted to thank you for adding on to my post about accommodations for chronic illness! i've heard of 504 plans but i'm not american and they don't exist in my country so i didn't want to mention them. i get a lot of hate when I make a mistake or give information that isn't complete or accurate, and I'm grateful that the info is getting out to people :)
ah, i was wondering why there was no mention of 504. i added it because i have one.
