“I’d lose myself for you”
Samira, who has been invited by Mel to her new apartment, isn’t convinced that her current living situation is ideal — despite the reassurance from her childhood best friend. She’s always been protective of Mel, considering her soft and empathetic nature.
So, she obviously jumps at the chance to visit Mel and investigate this odd roommate situation. After all, the idea of living with not one, not two, but three men is nothing short of a nightmare to Samira.
She reluctantly follows Mel towards the door labeled 4D. “You’re going to really like them, Mira. They’re lots of fun and I can assure you that they have real jobs.” Mel chatters on, but Samira is still unconvinced.
“I’ll be the judge of that,” she mutters.
The door opens with nudge and some effort, and the sight in front of them is three men of varying ages lounging on the sofa.
Samira holds back a grimace. She promised she’d try.
“Hey guys! I’d like to introduce to my closest and childhood best friend, Samira Mohan.” Mel clutches her forearm to encourage her to talk. The three of them perk up at the sound of Mel’s voice.
“Hi, I’ve heard so much about you guys,” Samira says, plastering on her practiced model smile.
It seems as though that piqued their interest because all of a sudden, they’ve all sat upright. One roommate catches her eye. He’s all freckles and auburn curls. The black shirt he wears does wonders to his muscled, and very veiny arms. Why is she trying to inconspicuously check out her probably creepy roommate?
“Wow, I didn’t know Mel had hot friends; would’ve asked her to bring home guests sooner then — I’m Jack, by the way,” he offers a confident smile, extending his hand forward. Fuck, he has dimples.
But, Samira isn’t that impressed. As a full-time model, she’s had her fair share of men trying to win her over with mock niceties and sugary compliments. What takes her aback though, is the crudeness that exudes off of Jack.
“Samira,” she takes his hand, drawing herself closer to his ear. “And I’m not that easy. Keep that in mind, Jack.”
She pulls back, smile painting her lips. She’s doing this for Mel.
Jack barely looks phased, but she doesn’t miss the flash of surprise that crosses his face before that. Mel introduces her other two roommates, Frank and Michael, who quickly interjects with a “just call me Robby.”
Normally, she’d dwell on the strange tension shared between Frank and Mel, but she stores that away for later. She feels a certain pair of hazel eyes burning holes into her back as she watches Mel bicker with Frank about something related to his angry plumbing tendencies.
What a strange, strange trio of men.
“So, Samira,” Jack starts. She turns to look at him. “Do you like… raisins?”
Jesus Christ. This man is hopeless.
“I don’t particularly hate them?”
“Well, how do you feel about dates?” Samira resists the urge to face palm. The tips of Jack’s ears turn red as she gives him a deadpan stare.
Before she can respond, Mel announces that she has to take a quick call before retreating to her bedroom hurriedly.
“Alright. Listen up, losers.” Frank and Robby are now looking at Samira, along with an embarrassed looking Jack.
“Mel is my best and closest friend. She’s been treated like shit by her ex boyfriend because she was always too fucking nice to call him out on his idiocy. But I don’t let shit slide,” she says. Her narrowed eyes scan each man, instilling in their heads where she stands in this dynamic.
“If any of you, and I mean, any of you, hurt her,” she points a perfectly manicured finger at them threateningly.
“I will not hesitate to fuck you up. And I mean it. I know enough people.”
Frank, Robby and Jack stare at her, wide-eyed. Robby and Frank mutter words of agreement. Jack looks enthralled, blushing painting his cheeks.
Mel comes out shortly after, and Samira says her goodbyes to everyone and starts walking to the front door. As Mel stands with Samira at the door, Jack pats his heated face.
“Guys, I think I might be attracted to Mel’s best friend. And I mean majorly. There’s something so… dominating about her.”
Robby gives Jack a pitiful look. “Jack, buddy, you’re majorly fucked.”
And that he is. But that’s a road Jack is willing to go down.
