My weirdest theory right now is that when you are in a relationship, you start enjoying canon couples a lot more than you used to. Before I started dating my partner, I almost never shipped canon couples, but now I love them (and usually they are, like, soppy and mushy and loving and not problematic and cool like all my OTPs used to be). And this is armchair psychology, but maybe being in a relationship increases your interest in stuff that's happening in established relationships, while it decreases your interest on "getting together" stories. Kim uses a lot of emojis. Mostly because she knows it annoys Trini. She likes the devil horns, the goofy smiles, and the teary eyed begging one especially. Trini doesn't typically use them, but she will send a black heart pretty regularly, and Kim loves it because she says it's the color of her soul.
