Chapter 4 - He's Got the Magic Hands

Summary

Chloe and Lucifer make ravioli and finish their sting. Finally! Ella’s date with Maze heats up.

Once Chloe closes the door to the main hallway behind herself, she slumps against it, leaning back. This has been the longest afternoon and evening of her life. She damns her work ethic for insisting on not only putting in a full day of work but also doing the sting tonight. She could have set up the sting for tomorrow night and be at Lucifer’s penthouse right now where she would be finding out everything else his lips can do. Not that doing the sting after having all the sex would stop Lucifer from having his hands all over her, but maybe it would have taken the edge off. She could use several edges taken off right now. No amount of telling herself—she’s a professional, a detective dammit, and a divorced, single mom who doesn’t have time for this foolishness—has made a single dent. It’s been a long time since her marriage went south. Longer since she’s had alone time with anyone who’s not her vibrator. She deserves this. With a deep breath, she smooths out her top and runs her fingers into her hair. She has to admit it’s a lot easier to work the sting with Lucifer on the other side of the door. Hell, it’s a lot easier to think, period. Of course, thinking doesn’t stop her from wanting to turn around and go back in. Wanting to say fuck the sting. No, not the sting. Fuck the man on the other side of the door. She’s certain he would be highly in favor of such a decision. He barely understands a work ethic at the best of times. And not at all when it interferes with sex. What does it say about her that an erstwhile Devil who spends his life hip-deep in temptation is the man she wants? Probably it says she could use to loosen up, and he is eminently capable of loosening her up in all sorts of ways.

Chapter 2 - You're My Romantic Alchemist

Summary

Chloe may possibly have a neon sign over her head letting everyone know about Lucifer, and Ella sets her sights on someone so bad they're good.

Snippet:

Keeping a firm grip on Dan’s elbow, Ella walks him back to his desk. She doesn’t want him to get sidetracked or turned around, not when Chloe has asked her to come through for her. Her girl needs to talk to Lucifer without her ex nearby. If the scene she walked in on in her lab earlier is any indication, they have mega amounts of things to discuss. “Are you sure our part is done organizing this?” Dan tries to extract himself from her grasp and cranes his head around, but Ella is nothing if not tenacious. “Totes positive. They’ve got it on lock.” She gives him a tug, keeping him moving. “They can decide how they’re going to handle it. They don’t need us messing with their flow.” She supposes running interference is the least she can do after deciding to give them both a shove towards each other earlier. No good deed is ever finished. “But I’m going to be monitoring them?” Dan sits heavily into his chair, his forehead creased, as his attention turns back to the conference room around the corner. “I should be in the loop.” “I’m sure they’ll get you up to speed.” Ella bounces on her toes, her mind zipping through a dozen different topics to distract him, trying to decide which one to start with. As she opens her mouth to tell him all about her new favorite show, Dan’s phone buzzes. He pulls it out of a pocket and reads the screen. “I gotta take this.” He thumbs the accept call button. Ella gives him a wave, hoping he’ll be distracted long enough for her Deckerstar dreams to come true, then turns to hurry off towards her lab, when she nearly runs into another wall. Okay, this time nothing at all like a wall, but it still feels like one. As though the air has solidified between one step and the next. Maze is standing in the bullpen, a suit bag slung over her shoulder, and looking…well…smoking hot. Not that Maze has ever been anything other than smoking hot any time Ella as seen her since they met. But it seems…different today. As though she had been avoiding thinking too much about it before. That stuff reveals hidden desires…

Summary:

She takes in how he is covered with the stuff. He thinks…he thinks it reveals true love, and now he’s looking at her like she hung the moon. No, this can’t be happening. Lucifer, of all people, can’t possibly be convinced that she, Chloe Decker, single mom and workaholic, is his true love. A murder to solve, a purported 'love' potion everyone tries (which claims to reveal your hidden feelings and desires), playing pool and discussing murder as demonic foreplay, and a romantic cooking class sting in which Chloe attempts to make ravioli with an amorous Devil. Fic fully written. Will update weekly.

Chapter 1 - Kiss Me Baby, Let the Fire Get Higher

Summary:

Lucifer can never resist getting into trouble. And why would he when it gets him everything he ever wanted?

Snippet:

Ella lifts a small bottle, examining it. It’s one of five found on this morning's victim, each the same—a small, clear container etched with symbols, stoppered with a cork held in place by red wax, and filled with what seems to be a sparkly dessert topping. On this bottle, the wax was already broken before she collected it, so she will test this one along with one of the sealed bottles to compare. Time to figure out what is in these bottles. She shrugs. Maybe it is a dessert topping? Ella pulls out a tray and puts it on the counter along with test kits for drugs and poisons. Carefully, she removes the cork, putting it on the tray, scooping a small amount out of the bottle. Achoo! Damn. Oh, no, no, no. Sparkly stuff all over her counter. Sparkly stuff in the air. Ella freezes, her good mood knocked sideways by her treacherous nasal passages. Calm. It will be fine. It’s probably not poison. She takes a deep breath which ends in a hacking cough. Fuck. She now has a mouthful of the stuff still floating about. Better not be poison. Huh…fizzy. She takes a step back from the counter, puts her hand around her cross, and sends a quick prayer up to the Big Guy. As Ella scans the area, determining what she needs to do to clean the mess, she remembers the informational packets she found with the bottles. She snaps her fingers, sending thanks to Him, while rummaging through the evidence to find the papers. Whoa. Her eyes widen as she gets the deets. The bottles are some sort of…she scans the the paper again…edible love potion—or more reveal love potion. No, gotta be accurate. It’s a reveal feelings and desires potion, though the advertising copy does lean heavy on being all about love. And she ate some. Ella lowers the paper and stares into space. At least the stuff isn't poison? What sort of hidden desires is it going to reveal? One of her machines beeps. She shakes herself. As if. It was a taste, not enough to affect her. Also, magic, really? She scoffs.
