Reminder: If you get a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer, take down their name, their badge number, and what they're claiming to be calling about, then get off the phone with them. Look up the official number for the agency they claim to be calling from, call that number, and ask them to confirm the name and badge number you took down earlier, and whether or not someone would be calling you about what they claimed to be calling about. If it's legit, the agency will confirm, and will be able to give you the information to get back in touch with the person who called you. If it's not legit, they'll tell you.
I just got a call allegedly from my local police department about an affidavit from the other side of the country, citing a law that turned out to be fake when I went to look it up. Took down the name and badge number, called my local pigs directly, and when I gave them the name and badge number I took down, they laughed and confirmed that it was fake.
Stay safe, don't get scammed!
Scam callers will be turned into midi instruments!
Fake-name caller: âHello, [momâs name]?â
me: âUh no, sheâs been dead for 10 years. Please take her off your list.â
silence, *click*
Ooof, never fun taking those calls. I just hate that they spoof the caller ID to make it look like a local number. (And by âlocalâ, I mean that Maine has one area code for the whole state.)
So I made friends with a telemarketer
//PRE WARNING//
DO NOT GIVE PEOPLE YOU DONT KNOW YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OR NAME OR CONTACT INFORMATION EVER
I gave out NON-PERSONAL INFO (FIRST name /ONLY/ and my discord which I barely use and doesnât have any of my personal info on it.)
I got a telemerketer scam call, and I always like talking to people, and since Iâve been sick since Friday I thought Itd be nice to talk to someone other than my family.
Him: Hey! How are you today?
Me: Ah, Iâm sick but Iâm still kicking. Whatâs up?
Him: Oh no! What happened?
Me: Oh, I have an upper respiratory infection. :(
Him: Omg Iâll pray for you, but can I talk to you about getting a new credit card?
Me: Yeah totally! Whatâs the minimum age for that though?
Him: Uh... like 20? 25?
Me: Yeah, thatâs gonna be an issue, Iâm 16.
After that he told me he was 18 and we started talking about video games and art and theatre and stuff. It was chill. He asked my name so I told him (first name only I obvi canât be 100% sure any of that was true). He asked for my insta or snap or something, but I donât have those so I just gave him my discord lol??
He said his name is Daniel and he seems like a chill guy. đ

Hello?
Guy with a bad accent(not sure where he was from and not trying to offend anyone), so letâs just say he had a bad accent. He called telling me:
âYouâve won a free Windows upgradeâ.
So I gave him a backwoods accent saying. âI preciate the offer, but I put in new windows 2 year go, got em through The Home Depot with 2% financing, Top of the line, triple pane, double locks, they perty.â Â
âSir Iâm talking about Windows for your computer.â I cut him off. âOh, I ainât turned my puter on in 3 or 4 months, it was infested with them pop ups, I like to look at them perty girls from time to time they talk on video like they can see me as they get nekkid, but then them popups dance on the screen and i have to cut off, it you can upgrade that from wherever you are? Â
âYes sir I can.â âwell, Iâll be, you must be one of them Best Buy Geeker Squadron members. If you can do all that.
âNo, I own my own companyâ, âWell, shit far Iâm talking Billy Gates, my lucky day, let me turn on my computer so you can upgrade that bitch for meâ.
âOkay, sounds good, when itâs turned on I need you to go www.â, he rattled off something I couldnât remember if I tried.
âWhile that thing is booting up can you do anything about the window in my â82 Fire-arrow, itâs a Pontiac, they donât make em any more, the passenger window has been stuck since â86 can you upgrade that?â
$^%$#Â #^$$@#^& &Â Â ##^$$!@$$$^Â about 15 seconds worth of cursing me in some language I couldnât make out. He was angry.
I just started laughing and hung up the call.Â
