5/27/17 This morning, a friend of mine and I decided to drive about an hour from her place to the rogue River again.
I was a little concerned about some weird pain Iāve been having in the lower back region, (something I think I tweaked in the weight room doing exercises with way too much weight for my own good).
Luckily sheās the kind of friend who understands and also wasnāt feeling terribly ambitious today. Thank God for people are mellow and āgo with the flowā sorts. I am not one of them!
We set out with a mile hike first, because Wenona needed to warm up her knee due to an injury sheās recently been rebounding from.
After a bit of that, and the sun deciding to shine a little more fiercely, we picked up the pace to a jog and kept it easy and mellow.
We both had plenty of water and decided to just take it as far as it felt comfortable. Stopping here and there to drink and take pictures, we ran and watched the rafters float down the beautiful Rogue.
Trail time is time to talk. Itās time to catch up and discuss the deeper things in life. Itās time to be silly. Itās time to ask questions. Itās time to connect. What is discussed on the trail stays on the trail.
After about 5 miles it was time to turn around and make our way back to the trailhead.
A few times we stopped to dunk our shirts and hats in the cold creek that feeds into the river. One time I found a stream deep enough to sit back and let the water wash over me. Itās amazing how your body is instantly revived after something like that!
When we got back to the trailhead, one more plunge in the river was needed just to freshen up before heading to the well-earned food at our favorite spot in Merlin, OR.
Honestly, my heart is full today.
