seulgi is like the dancing queenāyoung and sweet. the french gal wonders how her friend does it, dancing so effortlessly. so naturally that following the beat of the music becomes an affinity, bonding with seulgi's soul. soojung isn't stiff but lacks the charisma ( which is what seulgi has ). she can follow choreography decently but what makes her able to dance to an extent is her perfectionist nature. polishing the steps like it's everything that matters besides her vocals. not to leave out, stamina and endurance for the upcoming performance.
"how do you do it, seulgi?" soojung presses on with ultimate curiousity, needing to know the answer for empowering intentions. partially for herself, at least. "you can dance super good like there's something about you that i can't explain but you're super talented in both dancing and singing!" she's not envious but there's a lack in her flame. the missing link is what she needs to find out to be presentable for this evaluation.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā & .Ā I KISS YOU AS IF THERE IS NOTHINGĀ WRONG.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I CANāT LEAVE YOUR SWEET PRESENCE,
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN END FOR US
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā LIKE THIS AGAIN, FICTION ( IN FICTION )
she struggles,Ā much to her obviousĀ chagrin. maybe itās her nerves -- maybe itās because she sucks, it takes her a long while to realize, read: dearly hopesĀ itās not the latter. she spends her days, earbuds plugged into each ear, absorbed in the rhythmic stylings that was chaos. unsurprisingly more concerned with the vocals than anything else. remaining self-absorbed, nearly consumed by her thoughts -- a reminder, daily, to not mess up.Ā
unlike the rest, jihyunās unconcerned with the colorful stylization that was obviously highlyĀ unlike royalās palette. was it out of her typicalĀ genre? sure. was she going to let that bother her? no, not really. if anything, the difference in sound was as pleasing as it was refreshing to her ears. it was different and for now, different was good. different gave a cause for redemption. and this month of june, that was allĀ jihyun really wanted.Ā
( to redeem herself )
because if anything were to come of her failures from last month, it was her attempts at not repeating her past mistakes. and like most things that jihyun keeps in her pocket, sheās more than aware that messing up a second time -- so close to a chance at debut -- was out of the question.Ā
so, the pressure mounts, it adds -- continues to build up with each passing day. when sheās in the masses, hidden by the crowds, when sheās spending hours rehearsing with yooa over simple dance steps that she keeps forgetting in favor of vocal notes and when sheās supposedly thereĀ at home. when she promised herself that bringing work home was a no-no.
itās a promise she so easily breaks because the pressure soon becomes unbearable and sheās left hanging by a thread and another promise she hopes to god she doesnāt break as quickly as she does the last.Ā
a day before d-day, she goes over the entire performance again. silent, earbuds stuck like glue to deaf ears. concentrate a stricken chord across pained features. sheās not much of a dancer, that much is sure -- painstakingly obvious as she goes over each step and every half second itās becoming more and more apparent how exhausted she is.Ā
with each step, step, stepĀ -- she feels sluggish and sheās left wondering as she laying, tired and aching on polished wood just howĀ dancers could go day by day lovingĀ this.Ā
when it comes, it comes running-- the day is a frenzy of nerves. not so much from the others, it lies deeper than them. it digs further than the surface and only so much can be shown. they were here to perform, to assume a position that was betterĀ than the criteria. jihyun could only wishĀ she was happier to perform with a group as gifted as the one she was give (if only under better circumstances).
theyāre talented, that so much is a given -- visually,Ā skillfully, the entire package. itās only taken her under a few weeks to realize that outside of herself, royal had easily saturated itself into talent as colorful as the individuals before her. and much like the evaluation had decided, it was out of her comfort zone. it was hard to call them close, basically strangers submerged in deep waters; it was only after countless hours spent did each become acquaintances to her -- lesser than her in time but all the more dedicated when it came to reaching their dreams.Ā
and that was enough for her to resolve any lingering nerves that roamed from within -- last month, she had failed herself but now, it was out of the question for her to fail among a group she knew didnāt deserve her working at her absolute worst.
so, jihyun gives it her all -- like she should each performance. like she usually does when given the absolute best. but unlike most, sheās still stuck in the headspace of failure; confidence faked until the last second where it actually counts.Ā
like the song, she expresses her frustration -- an outburst of emotions that flow from her fingertips as they run through dark tresses and sheās belting her notes; timing them between seolhyunās like the song had called for.Ā she sings like she breathes, where itās second nature and she fills her lungs with the sweet notes she knows by heart at this point. dedicated to rewrite her mistakes with a note sheās practiced without fail,Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā¦ Ė Ā āāāāāā I WILL SAY THIS AGAIN, ONE MORE TIME Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā RIGHT NOW YOU ARE NEXT TO MEĀ ,
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā IāM BELIEVING THAT --Ā
and she sings, voice never once wavering from expectation -- notĀ this time. and though her steps become sloppy and she messes up the timing as the end nears, she keeps her voice stable. it isnāt until the very end where she spares a second and finally breathes because in her eyes, this one more timeĀ had given her what she so longed for.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā THERE IS NO END .
⦠ā it was a joke once ( or so she believes ), that the samsung deal is the prelude to the hunger games, traineeĀ edition but now itās looking like a reality. theyāre set against trcĀ of all companies and tiffany couldnāt find it more ridiculous. a company known for its creativity and boundless talent against their own, mocked for being the best producers of visualĀ idols.Ā
but, she honestly tries not to let it bother herā how could she when the girls in her group have more talent than anyone could expect of anyĀ kt idol. variety is a given. looks? certainly. but they have singers, rappers, andĀ dancers in their group alone. the other kt group has the same going for them and she, for one, thinks theyāre well-rounded, thenĀ theyāre given thatĀ song. it could pass for a chichi song in her opinion, even how disconnectedĀ parts of it seem.Ā
( which means letās not talk about i got a boy, as catchyĀ as it is but you can bring it back to 1:40 )Ā
even then, her hope is infallibleĀ because they can do this. they can make the song theirs, and for a week they do. endless editing of the song creates a version they adore, one that sounds more like them, and less chaotic. choreography they cover easily. the steps are simple, itās the body rollsĀ that gets at least half of themā her and eunae for sure, anyway. her doubts are nonexistent when it comes to the groupĀ performance but then it comes crashing down on them.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā youāre focusing too much on making the song yoursĀ āĀ
and tiffany hates it, she hates that one of the first times theyāre going to perform on a stage in front of trc trainees wonātĀ be theirs. bothĀ of their mga teams placed below the one trc had and tiffanyās never completelyĀ let go. the thought of anyone thinking kt just canāt compare to trc burns. not being able to showcase what they allĀ can do, that creativity doesnāt belong solely to trc or even sphere, makes her feel guilty. looking at sooyoung, she canāt forget the feeling that she let her downā itās because her coaching wasnāt good enough that sooyoung came so close to elimination. itās because of herĀ that her entire team was nearly decimated. to think that it could happen to any of them, itās unforgivable but notĀ irreparable.Ā
they still work just as hard ( tiffany thinks they might even be moreĀ motivated because of theĀ āforcedā change ) and tiffanyās in love with kt girls all over again. sheās reminded once again that kt girls can rock any stage if they put their heartĀ into it and thatās what theyāre about. what better company to have a heartĀ symbol but them?Ā
technicalities like rhythm, lyrics, staying on beatĀ ( which she doesnātĀ in the second chorus, faltering a second behind the others but quickly covering it up with a smallĀ act of aegyo, directed towards her cousin and joy no less ), fall to the wayside because sheās having fun, something she hadnāt expected to still do with the song after the remix had caused them to fall slightlyĀ out of favor. her rap is the first part she essentially has, a glance towards eunae for her own comfortā it was like the younger said, she has to let her ownĀ color shine throughā keeps her confidence at a constant high. her voice isnāt the same tone of huskiness as the original rapper butĀ she has her own unique tone and with a wink and salute, she lets the yessir echo loudly.Ā
the next chorus is hers too and itās the sentiment she wants the trc girls to feelĀ the most, to fall in love. with the music, with them, because if kt definitely has something besides looks, she knows itās charm. not to mention, their playfulness. as the finding nemo quote goes, (s)he touched the butt, and itās what keeps her grinning as the coda fades out. after all, the inside joke isnāt (k)inky (t)rainees without reason.Ā Ā
If there was anything that Yuta was thankful for, it was that he knew at least one face on arrival to TRC. Ten. The younger male cornered as soon as they were free to ask if he would help him practice the choreography for the evaluation. The quicker that Yuta managed to get all the choreography down into his muscle memory, the easier it would be for him to shine ā and getting it in sync with the other boys was going to be the hardest part if he didnāt have the choreography at all. His concerns tucked away, and frustrations ignored; like how TRC expected him to do a perfect performance within a week. But he would do it. Challenge accepted. Ā A smile lingered on his lips as he adjusted his sweats at his waist, closing the door to the dance studio and turning around to face Ten.Ā
āMy plan is to perfect the choreography first. Itāll be the quickest,ā Yuta continued to explain, glancing over at the Thai male and offering a shrug of his shoulders. In his mind, everything else would take longer but heād stick out more if he messed up the choreography; everyone was going to notice him if he made an error in the group choreography. At least Ten had a couple weeks on him to get it down and if he could time it right with Ten, he should have been able to slip right in with little problem. He already knew the other six boys were likely going to have to shuffle about to make room for him; he didnāt know them well enough to assume itād be okay.Ā āAnd what better way to show how awesome I am, then to perfect this in a week, right?ā He offered, patting Tenās back as he came up to him.Ā āLetās focus on the chorus?ā
āā * ROYAL, JUNE 2017 EVAL ...
Ā Ā Ā ( lucifer by shinee lc9 ) * ( outfit as seen in the gifs )
group evaluation with @rkbyunbaekā, @yienrkā & @rksunbinā
thereās a clock ticking in his brain āā the sound loudĀ and boisterous; it had acted as a reminder that there wasnāt much time left till the performance. jaehyun, among all things, is a worry-wart. that tied in with the fact that he was a perfectionist lead to, in some cases, a terrible mixture and the need to set up expectations that only went higher and higher.Ā
heās been a trainee for a good three or so months now, and it had been somewhat easy falling into the routine of constant lessons. in those few months heād improved on his dancing by a milestone, had learnt better vocal techniques āā there were a range of things that jaehyun had picked up.
yet when he was finally falling into this comfort, heād been hit with perhaps his biggest struggle in royal yet. and that was performing an lc9 song.Ā
sure. at first heād thought, how cool!!!! lc9!!!!!! i love them!!!! and then the distributing of parts began and jaehyun realized that heād be taking up gunwooās part āā that this meant that he was going to be lead vocal. that this also meant that heād be singing and dancing at the same time, that the high notes would have to be reached.
previously heād had no problem with this but nerves can be a dangerous thing. and as seen by the way jaehyun would push himself āā push, push, pushĀ āā till he could finally reach that one note that irritated him to no end; his nerves had taken a toll on him.
it had taken some talking with baekhyun for him to calm himself, to learn that this was all apart of growing up and finding yourself as an idol.Ā
he decides to shift those nerves into commitment, works hard to pull off this stage āā to make his hyungs proud.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ānext we have the royal boys performing lucifer by lc9.ā
the clock continues to tick and jaehyun lips get a little dry as theyāre called onto stage. he drinks the honey water from his bottle before he turns to baekhyun, searching for some look of reassurance from the older boy ( he smiles when he catches it ).
the lights fall on them and jaehyun knows thereās no more time for nerves. heāll do good. youāll do great,Ā he remembers baekhyun telling him.
he hears the first beat of the song and it begins.
ā ģØģ ź³³ė ģ°¾ģ§ ėŖ»ķ“

ź±°ė¶ģ”°ģ°Ø ķ ģ ģė ā
( even if i try to avoid you,
i canāt find a place to hide
i canāt even deny you )
he begins and the singing comes easy āā there isnāt much to dance to yet. all he knows is that heās started this performance and that theyāll do wellĀ as a team āā he psyches himself into believing that.
baekhyun takes the next few lines as the song builds up and thatās when it really begins.Ā
jaehyun moves to the rhythm of the song, choreography practically ingrained in his mind by now. yien hyung had lead him well and heād spent nights practicing move after move, unwilling to bring down the rest of his teammates.
lc9ā²s choreographies have always been admired for their structure and level.
he slides to the front of the formation and focuses.
ā ź±°ė¶ ķ ģ ģė ėģ ė§ė „ģ Lucifer ā
( your undeniable spell is the Lucifer )
two fingers held up as he does the choreography.
the other three boys perform their parts and jaehyun focuses on giving up a good performance himself too āā facial expression and movement his priority as the older members cover their parts.
they reach the chorus and so far everything is going fine, jaehyunās actually quite enjoying this; now that heās got the choreography plastered all over his mind it isnāt as nerve-wrecking as he thought it would be ( at least, to some extent ).
ā ėė ź°ģ ź³³ģ ė°ė¼ė³“ė ė ā
( you look towards the same places i do )
baekhyunās and jaehyunās lines blend in and out and jaehyun quite honestly likes this. he thinks once again that the stage really really makes him happy.
after yienās part itās time for jaehyun to take the stage front and centre as the other boyās slide to the side and truth be told heās feeling much more confident than heād been at the start. itās a feeling he enjoys as he sings, centre of the stage.
the performance is exhilarating and jaehyun feels at the very least in control of his body āā a lot more in control of his body than he wouldāve been without the training royal had given him. and as tiring as the dance is, itās fun āā itās fun because he knows how well they work as a team āā itās fun because he doesnāt want to let them down.
āĀ ė§ģ¹ ģ 리ģ±ģ ź°ķė²ė¦° ģģė”ė§ ė ź² ź°ģ āĀ Ā

(Ā itās not that i hate you or that i dislike you
itās just that kind of stare is a burden is all )
he stands in front of his hyungs as the song reaches itās climax. any moment soon and itāll be baekhyunās high note. jaehyun sets the stage for the moment, the highlight of the song.
as the lyrics state, during yienās part the choreography does get a little robotic ( a bad joke jaehyun had cracked at one point during practice ). they settle into the formation for the chorus once more and jaehyun is hyped.
his highest note in the song comes next and jaehyun gets into position. iām ready, he tells himself. iām ready.

ė°ė³“ ė ź² ź°ģ āĀ
(Ā you look into me openly, touching my brain
i think iāve become a fool )
he ends off with a little smile ( smirk of sorts ) āā itās a little hard not to when heās finally pulled off that cursed note.
the chorus repeats itself and the choreography is one that heās able to follow easily. this is what heās here for.

it becomes increasingly obvious as the month progresses how well seungcheol is doing handling this evaluation. usually, he finds any excuse to pick faults, and sure, at first, heād been a little sceptical ā after all, despite being a band concept, he was still being required to dance ā but this month, he just couldnāt find anything to complain about. adapting to the keytar is fun, the song is catchy, the dance is actually manageable once he enlists help (which has helped socialise him, too), and heās with people he knows. itās a surprise to catch seungcheol is such a genuinely good mood, and heās been blissful without fault since the evaluation was announced. he had noticed, however, that it isnāt that way for everyone.Ā
āhey, howās the drums going?ā he asks with a wide smile, tilting his head to the side as he opens up the case heād been using to temporarily store his new keytar. hooking it over his shoulder, he bounces on the heels of his feet as he prepares to practice. āplaying an instrument and singing or rapping at the same is my limit... adding the dance in is where itās getting complicatedā for me, at least.ā he laughs softly. āIāll forever be in awe of dancers. I donāt know how you do it. I feel like I have two left feet.āĀ
june was finally coming to a close, and dawon was determined to end it on a positive note.
while it could easily be considered the worst month sheās had in years, given just how low sheās felt from start to finish, dawon didnāt want to abandon hope. hope is whatās gotten her this far, and hope is the only reason that she continued to persevere. the hope that, one day,Ā sheād make it through this, even if that felt like a far and distant future.
preparations for the evals had gone smoothly, or at least, theyād gone smoothly for dawon.Ā sheād taken a backseat while a few of the other trainees had been hard at work, deciding how the entire performance was going to go. wendy was in charge of line distribution, and sheād taken it upon herself to make dawon the main vocalist. it was ideal, though a part of dawon had felt apprehensive. was she even capable of being the main vocalist right now? after all, sheās been an emotional wreck for the majority of the monthābut her newfound determination to not let the team down would have to get her through.
almost all of her free time was dedicated to familiarizing herself with the choreography. she had needed a bit of help learning it at firstāhelp which, to dawonās relief, min was eager to provide. from there, it had taken hardly any time at all for dawon to get the idea of thingsāthe choreography wasnāt especiallyĀ difficult to learn, and the training she's received at nova thus far should help to execute it decently. while it was obvious that she wouldnāt be the most impressive dancer on the stage, she could only hope that she wouldnāt be the worst, either.
the music begins as sheās crouched on the ground, and it almost feels like the calm before the storm. could something go wrong? she has no time for doubt, however, not nowānow was the time for action,Ā and sheās determined to make it through this monthās evaluation without any problems like sheād faced last month. the fact that sheād actually gotten to practice this time around served to ease her nerves somewhat, but not entirely.
when itās finally her time to sing, dawon tries to ignore the audience, hoping that sheāll manage to let go and live in the moment. sheās reminiscing about a happier time in her lifeāa time when she sang because it was funābecause it was something that she enjoyedābecause it was something that sheĀ loved to do rather than something she felt obligated to do. things were so much simpler then, and she wasnāt burdened with even half of the fears that she faced now. if only those times hadnāt ended what felt like an eternity ago.
for the first time in a quite some time, her lips manage to form a genuine smile throughout the entirety of the performance. sheās not entirely sure where this new optimism stems from, but sheāll be the last one to complain. maybe sheās starting to realize that she was actually capable of making it through this chapter of her life, no matter how difficult it had proved to be up to this point. while her struggles may be far from over, somehow, things were beginning to feel a little easier to bear.
was it even possible to return to the way things used to be? before yoo jiaeābefore taehaābefore the accidentābefore the loss of her grandfather? would she ever be able to perform freely, unburdened by the sins of her past, again? only time will tell, but, for now,Ā she has to believe that itās possible. she hasĀ to believe that things will get easier. sheās tired of being driven by tragedy. sheās tired of allowing it to define everything that she is. sheās tired of feeling like sheās nothing more than what her past has forced her to be.
if i can live through this, i can do anything.Ā itās something that junyeong recently said to her, a lyric from a song that he enjoys. junyeongās seemed rather persistent in helping dawon forgive herself for her past lately, and with good reason; every low mood can ultimately be linkedĀ to her past rather than her present or future. but was it possible for dawon to forgive herself for something so terrible that she felt she was responsible for? in her mind, she had ruined junyeongās lifeāso why was he still trying so hard to improve hers?
ģ°ė¦¬ ė ė¦źø° ģ ģ
she wants nothing more than to keep moving forward, so why has she always felt the need to look back? was there something in her past that was preventing her from moving on? her past is what made her who she is, she knowsāshe doesnāt want to forget it,Ā she just wishes that she could make peace with it. while the solution wasnāt going to come overnight, she finds herself yearning to move onāyearning to find that same happiness that had helped her to discover her dream of becoming a singer in the first place, before itās too late.
ģ“ģ ģ²ė¼ ėź»“ģ§ė ģź°
sheās spent so much time wanting to succeed for others that sheās forgotten what itās like to want to succeed for herself. itās not that she wants to stop drawing strength from others, but more so that she wants to remember what itās like to believe in herself, too. maybe thatās something that she could work on and eventually learn to do with time; after all, anything is possible, and it felt like a goal that was worth achieving.
sheās wanted this for so long, yet somehow dawon had lost sight of her dream as she became obsessed with the idea of redeeming herself for her past actions. she had forgotten that this was something that she wantedĀ to do rather than something that she hadĀ to do. but, now, dawon was beginning to realize all of the hard work that sheās put forth to get where she is now, and she knows that her younger self would be proud of just how far sheās managed to come.
and, for the first time in a long time, dawon felt like things might be okay.
he feels beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, down the curves of his lean back muscles -- he shouldnāt have worn a long-sleeve to practice today, but the looseness of the garment provides some ventilation, some coolness to his skin. thankfully, the room is comfortably air-conditioned, but unfortunately for taeyong, he canāt really feel the breeze from the vents with all the activity and live singing heās attempting to do right now -- key words, attempting.
after practicing the choreography for at least an hour and a half now ( heās lost track of time -- maybe itās been thirty minutes, maybe itās been two hours, who knows at this point ), taeyong lies on the floor, back flat against the hard surface as he turns to one of his groupmates for the evaluations, black hair sticking to his forehead with sweat acting as an unwanted, disgusting adhesive.
āsehun-ah... how are we going to do this without dying.ā itās more of a statement rather than a question, and his chest heaves as he closes his eyes, trying to steady his breathing.Ā āi bet the other group is having a great time with i feel you... if only...ā
