Riddles were her special interest, and so became the riddler. She spent years searching him down and following his riddles, so when she finally found him, she had felt as if she had found the man who could singlehandedly give her life purpose. Could tell her the answers to the riddles of the world.

And sure their relationship felt perfect for a few years. She was the Riddlette, his sidekick, his intellectual heir, an extension of Edward. She needed him to give her direction and reassurance, and he needed her to make him feel superior to the rest of the world

The moment Ellie tried to become her own person and the illusion of their power structure fell apart it takes down everything with it, including their codependent relationship

Ed will fail Ellie in the end. He will stand over her gravestone contemplating where it went wrong, but he won't be able to figure it out. He'll never be able to figure out how a perfect genius like him could end up murdering their only potential intellectual equal at only seventeen years old. Before she ever got to fully realize her potential.

Fish Mooney never had a bad fucking outfit tbh and she passed that baton to Oswald to carry thru the end of the show. 

Sofia Falcone also crushed it in every scene.
