Help me out, Catholic friends: is there a state capitol city where you live or that you have visited where there’s a Catholic church on the same street or right near by the state governmental buildings? Near like within sight of each other? So far my list consists of Harrisburg, PA and Topeka, KS. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
For a month and a half I've been metaphorically hitting my head against a wall with my holocaust graphic novel research, trying to figure out just how I'm going to create a paper. The novels are all quite staggering in their difference. I've read very serious, somber graphic novels (Croci's Auschwitz, Kubert's Yossel, Katin's We Are On Our Own, etc.), I've read novels obviously geared towards children (graphic novels of biographies on Anne Frank, books produced by the Anne Frank House about a young Jewish girl who hides out in Holland and her Dutch friend whom she grew up with, a trilogy about French kids in Vichy who take part in the French Resistance), I've read "thriller" novels (a series by Tezuka called Adolf about the entwined lives of Adolf Hitler, a young half-Japanese-half-German Nazi named Adolf Kaufman, his best friend growing up in Japan and a Jewish boy named Adolf Kamil, all tied together when Sohei Toge's brother is murdered in Germany due to potential access to documents "proving Hitler had Jewish blood"), and many more. I was sure that, with enough novels, I would have SOME thoughts as to what I'd like to write about, just HOW I could tie all these texts together... And I finally did! I know EXACTLY what the purpose of my paper is now! And that's so, so, SO exciting!!!
