punjab is losing an entire generation and it's not even subtle about it anymore.

between 2016-2021, almost 5 lakh people left punjab for jobs. another 2.6 lakh left to study. by 2022, punjabi students alone made up 60% of ALL indian students going to canada that year.

and here's the part that gets me — in the actual research, 95% of the people who left said they were happy they did it.

not "mostly happy." not "conflicted." 95% relief.

that's not a personal choice problem. that's a "my home stopped giving me a reason to stay" problem.

the reasons keep showing up in every study: no jobs for graduates, farming families drowning in debt, a drug crisis that's pushing parents to send their kids away just to keep them safe, and corruption so normalized that "who you know" beats "what you know" every time.
