Waking up // sunrise // breakfast // back to bed
Last weekend, we were planning to go cycling in the peaks for a few hours on Sunday, but Ben ended up so swamped with work that we didn't make it. "Lets sleep out sometime next week instead?", he said. Last summer, even when I was working on my thesis and he was working, we went car camping or for a bivvy somewhere in the peaks every week, but somehow we haven't done it in months now. We decided on wednesday evening because it fit well after climbing, and somehow got lucky enough to pick the best weather of the week.
Drove out to the redmires after climbing, set up our "bed", had dinner and watched a film, went to sleep. I sleep so well anywhere that isn't a building - we didn't even get much sleep but I woke up feeling so fresh. Went up the nearest hill to watch the sunrise. Frozen hands, hot tea from the jetboil, breathing clouds into the air. And you ❤

(2024-01-03) The rain did stop from the start of the year. This is a walk from Redmires Reservoir (Sheffield) around the conduit with views up the A57 and over to Derwent Edge. The final bend left leads to a small reservoir and this derelict house. great to be out.
