I kinda love the Mercyverse books that delve into non-Fae-centric mythology and functionally stand alone without really having any affects on the overarching political plots or other worldwide ramifications. They're a nice break from the what-we-do-here-could-fuck-up-the entire-world anxiety that the characters usually deal with

Mercy & Gary: Our father is a rat bastard who just wants to make our lives miserable.

Coyote: is a sneaky rat bastard who risked the end of the world to get Mercy's head fixed.

Me, the reader: I wonder when Gary & Mercy & everyone else will realize that Bran & Coyote are the same person, just in different fonts?
