Day 7: Creator's Choice

In the morning, Mareecha – the dog, the beast below all beasts, the clod of dirt that did not bear a place even under Ravana’s ugly shoe – comes to them. He is dressed as he always is, bright, shining gold, barely short of being gaudy, and breathtakingly beautiful.

Ravan: King of Lanka
Namaskar ✨✨✨
We watched this really cool movie by Pen Movies. It's based on Ravan and is available on YouTube for free. We decided to review it for everyone and possible convince people to watch it too.
The evil king in the great Indian epic Ramayan, was actually a great learned man, the biggest shiv-bhakt and a shrewd king. Raavan was a mul

• I frankly don't have anything wrong to say about this movie. 10/10 recommended.
• This movie is genuinely very nice, didn't expect it to be, tbh
• It's a movie for kids so there is a bit made up stuff like the Naga king's fight with Raavan and all, but in general the story is accurate
• The animation is decent, as is the BGM, I like how it explores Ravana's entire life.
• Also BIG BIG BIG KUDOS for including the Ravan-Rambha incident (albeit in a child friendly way) BUT STILL.
• Loved it tbh. I remember I used to watch it in lockdown and it was soooo nice. Honestly nothing wrong in it except maybe minor thing lol! Which can be ignored and watched to enjoy.
I'll love to recommend it for kids to make them aware of how Ravan actually was.
• This movie has slim chikna Kuber which was a shock to me lol. I was so used to see pot bellied and short round Kuber (in other medias like photos or stuff and Bal Ganesha as well) that slim talk muscular Kuber made me happy, somewhere he's hot 😭🙏 XD
• Loved that they didn't potray Ravan to be this super chad good guy and rather showed his dark side (both in the Rambha-Nalakubera incident and the Sita Haran)
• Kinda sad they made it show like he had attended Sita's Swayamvar tho 😔😔 but chalo koi na I'll let it slide cuz otherwise I liked the rest of it
• OHH I ADORED THE FACT THE SHOWED THE RAMBHA INCIDENT!! YES LET MORE PEOPLE KNOW HE WAS A BITCHASS MOFO
Loved it that they kept it lowkey and child friendly, but anyone with big mature braincells will understand from the dialogues that Ravan was harrassing Rambha. The dialogue don't hide anything at all.
Nalakubera looked so chad HAJSHDHDHDHD
• Ram wasn't Ram-ing though, he's made light skinned which... Ehhh isn't exactly very Ram... T_T
• AND I think just the typical colourism that was common in all old animated movies kinda exists? Cuz Vibhishan is somehow the only fair one among his siblings... TvT But bro was dark skinned like his siblings as a kid....
• This movie is pretty good tbh for a kids movie. It does a pretty good job despite adding some fictional things like Ravan's nana was the king of Lanka, the fight with Nagas and Ravan being at Sita's swayamvar? It was not even a swayamvar tho but it's nice.
• The character designs were actually great despite the proportions looking weird and the animation style is nice.
• I, however, am curious that why do they show the wives of rishi in simple clothes, especially like the ones from rich background, would the wife's family not gift their daughter/sister/granddaughter things?? It's not like they are excommunicated.
• I love that they aren't white-washing Ravan or trying to justify his actions like uh certain people do when they make something on Ravan. That's a W for me. I love that they are showing his bad side too, we can clearly see that through the dialogues. And it's also great they added the Rambha incident in a child friendly way and Ravan being cursed because he is a piece of shit who harassed a woman.
• Overall it's a nice movie to watch. I particularly loved Sita's design as well as Lakshman's a lot and Ram's voice was perfect, so calming and soothing.

This is just our personal opinion and we particularly enjoyed this movie which surprised us. Do let us know what do you guys think if you check this movie out or your thoughts from whatever you concluded from our review.

I saw this picture somewhere and thought it would fit perfectly in this context.
Lakshman: Brother Ram- it's Ravana- he-
Rama: Shh... First take a deep breath and tell me, dear brother, where is my Sita?
Lakshman: Hyperventilates *sweats profusely* sh-she's been abducte-
Rama: *SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTS 108 OTHER UNIVERSES*
Headcanon:
Vibhishan would have to tolerate Kumbhkaran and Ravan's aggressive and sometimes violent arguments over Ravan's shitty decisions from his late teens to his adulthood.
He would usually side with Kumbhkaran (who in my retelling was the only guy he could talk to because he was the only other guy who disliked Ravan's assholic behavior) but also like try to calm them down and come to a based conclusion.
Kumbhkaran: YOU HAVE HORSHSHIT FOR A BRAIN. Ravan: TF DID YOU JUST SAY??? Vibhishan: Guys please!
Sometimes V wouldn't even come out of his room because of this, but Kumbh would at times call him out to support him, and then he has to go.
Also Kumbhkaran was the only person who was protective of his lil bro against Ravan. Whenever Ravan yells at V Kumbh yells back at him. "Don't you dare talk to him like that!"
V also would have to deal with Kumbhkaran ranting about his fights to him aggressively and he'd just have to be his unpaid therapist (not that he didn't appreciate Kumbh's venting but at some point it gets annoying yanno)
So when Ravan banishes Vibhishan Kumbh tries to argue with him but Ravan wouldn't budge. V was already intending on leaving but he wanted Kumbh to join him. However, he was skeptical because even though Kumbh would talk shit about Ravan he'd still be awfully loyal to him.
The night before leaving he asks Kumbhkaran to join him but in this hc Kumbh knew he was destined to be killed by Ram along with Ravan so he refuses. V is heartbroken and so is Kumbh. the latter asks him to win this thing, because that is the only way this whole shitshow would end. V starts crying and Kumbh tears up too. He also says V better be prepared cuz he will not hold back in the war against him. He says that he'll love him forever, even if he doesn't feel the same for him atp. V is even more conflicted, mad at his brother as well, but respects his decision and leaves next morning.
HELP OMG 😭😭😭😭😭
*I typed in big words to show how much I am screaming*
ALL OF THIS IS SO TRUE MAN 😭😭😭😭
ALSO ALSO It became even harder for him to stay with Ravan when Kumbh was given that curse boon to fall asleep so now he got so much less time with Kumbh supporting him and having his back and Ravan being a jerk towards him
Also nothing else helped because Ravan was like unstoppable and getting even more bigraelu with their grandpa supporting him so V adn Kumbh were kind of the only persons and nobidy could tell anything to Kumbh cuz well he's still strong but V is not so strong so he was the black sheep always
HELP WHY IS EVERYTHING SO SAD 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Also V had so much heartbreak while telling the Vanar and co. about how to kill Kumbh like that's him brother but ATP that's his enemy and he's loyal to Ram but that's him brother but that's his enemy but that's his brother but that's him enem- sigh
