As a whole, the teaching profession seems to be grossly underappreciated. I think (and hope) we all have had at least that one teacher who has changed us for the better, opened our eyes and minds to the wide world of possibilities and to our potential. Prepared us to think outside the proverbial box, stretching our imaginations. Someone tough enough to push us beyond our comfort zone so we could grow, yet not strictly restrictive; walking the tricky middle ground between ruling with an iron fist and being a mealy-mouthed pushover. Fortunately, I have had several teachers who managed this awe-inspiring feat. They made a lasting impression on me and at one point I considered following in their footsteps. The best teachers never forget their learning days, striving to become the kind of teacher they themselves most needed.
Teacher appreciation should be a year-round thing
a memory from school
first day new school with childhood best friend who has been there for a year sitting next to her her introducing you to other girls introducing yourself to the class teacher introducing myself to the class sitting with her and her group for lunch shying away from conversations yet being included in every sharing lunch sharing talks sharing views and opinions sharing and caring getting help from new classmates with studies with life new friends new school new teachers newfound happiness thanking heavens that your time in a new high school was one of the best times of your life
It's a safe place, we're here for you,
Don't need to worry, we'll protect.
We've all known what it's like,
Being singled out and feel neglect.
Follow our rules, accept your fate,
Know where you stand, your simple place.
We're not like them, trust us complete,
Or be left out, we're not two-faced.
It's our world, you're visiting,
Unless you kneel and kiss the ring.
We need to see what you will bring,
Until then you're not worth a thing.
Don't you dare walk away,
Do you know who we are?
We control you now.

The early days
He remembers the early days, of his school, When he was a shy kid, always keeping to himself, Being bullied and made to look like a fool, Always had a lasting impression on his self. // Sitting alone, listening to the teacher, Games being played, not participating, Nobody wanted him in the group, felt like another creature, A little girl, smiles at him, he looks down, wasn't anticipating. // She comes to sit next to him, he manages to smile, They sit together from then on, friends, For how long though he wonders, people come and they go, He just hopes she isn't like others, so vile. // His birthday, mom made him wear his favorite orange cardigan, All the others made fun of him, calling him names, He's broken, isolating himself, classes hadn't even begun, She comes, I'll be you partner in all the games. // Teachers come, a surprise awaits, They've brought a box, why, he wonders, They hug him, laying out everyone's plates, He can feel himself getting red, he stutters. // They sing him a birthday song, He blows the candle and cuts the cake, She gives him his gift and he smiles, It's a beautiful day, he thinks, he's so happy. - DG

Any questions? Ask us!
It's hard to walk down this lane when every minute there is a choice to make, an intersection to contemplate.
But I'll stick to this one as it's been a while since I visited your house at the end of this lane.
You're worth it.
Every minute spent with you was a minute of real, loud and cheek reddening laughter.
But you weren't lame and you weren't mean.
You were mature and wise but also so damn funny. I don't think I've come across a person like you ever since.
You adapted quickly, understood completely and didn't care who it was - you just had to make them laugh and have a great time.
Out of all those funny days I remember one the most and I have a feeling when it comes to time spent with me you would pick that one too. Or maybe not. Maybe that was just another silly, epic day for you.
It was our games period and the next was SUPW (socially useful productive work - or that's what I think the full form was anyway) and we had both forgot to carry a piece of smooth wood.
There were some workers working at the back of the ground, for what now is the children's playground. There was a lot of wood and we weren't the kinds to give up so we went up to that shady looking shed right at the end and asked that old man if he could give us some of the scrap wood.
He didn't understand.
So we said again.
He didn't understand.
So we looked at each other and we shook it off to try again.
And again and again and again.
Now I don't know if it was because he wanted to get rid of us or he did understand us, but he started to frantically shake his head.
We were finally happy he understood us on the 9th time and we continued to tell him we wanted two and of which exact size.
He nodded and we kept explaining further and once we were done we realized we weren't really for he just kept shaking his head.
I know that it was funnier when it happened and I know I'm missing out on all the details and I know this post is such a disappointment for your essence but I remember how much we laughed that day. And for the coming months remembering that day. And I remember your big eyes and pretty dimples and sharp features. And I see them on my social media every other day. I double tap but no number of taps will ever take us back to that school day.
We did finally get the pieces of wood and we completely ruined it later in class but it didn't matter one bit like most things never truly do in the end anyway.
First Day Chills
First day shivers and butterfly nerves can’t shake the way I feel as my head unpacks the rules What to wear and how to speak Will my friends be outside, god I forgot where to meet The bell is ringing, my brains on fire one deep breath pushes me through the open doors
