how much do gut fixes affect the way the core 6 manifests? Is p6 with a 1 fix more likely to seem 9ish? or do all p6s have a 9 fix?
The attachment types in generally tend to be pretty heavily modulated by their fixes. You may not see a super drastic difference, as again, a 6 will always be a 6, but the gut fix will be a modifier that affects what “triad behavior” is most obvious within a given 6 as well as where on the cp vs p sliding scale they sit. Â
Triadic wise, 1 fixed 6s will be more superego orientiented, often stiff and tense, correcting, and principled. As with many superego types, there is this weird focus on the archetypes or singular archetype (ie. selflessness, principle, duty, etc….), have a tendency to either be very black and white or oscillate between being very black and white and being very grey in their decisions (the distinction there can be mbti related I’d argue, but that’s not the question so I won’t elaborate further).Â
8 fixed 6s are going to be more reactive, grounded, blunt, direct, and responsive, often with strong opinions and a lack of desire to “hold themselves back” in situations others might find it appropriate. The responsive types in general are focused on the truth and tend to have authentic, uninhibited reactions to things, and this is often very clear in 68x combos.
9 fixed 6s are going to be more attachment oriented, adaptive, fluid/flexible, indecisive, and versatile. Specifically with these types, there is a weird oscillation between wanting to be part of the external world and wanting to reclude, but generally speaking makes for a relatively “chill” 6.
To get to the rest of your question in the p vs cp modulation, p6s in general tend to look kind of like 9 regardless of what fix they have because of their tendency to evade rather than combat. If you find a 6 who looks specifically 9 despite relating to 1 things/considering a 1 fix, statistically they are likely a 9 fixer, as the superego nature of 6 is often mistaken for a 1 influence.
Nonetheless, this may be a semi-unpopular viewpoint, but p or cp 6 can be found with any gut fix. Statistically speaking, a 6 with a 9 fix is often phobic, a 6 with an 8 fix is often counterphobic, and this generally holds 85% of the time, but is not always the case. This also applies to 6 fixes and wings if you bother to label wings (I personally think it’s kind of dumb, but some people find it useful so I figured I’d mention it).  1s tend to go either way honestly, tending towards the center of the spectrum, maybe a bit towards the phobic end since p6 is more common statistically. Back when I first started typology, 6 was split into three groups rather than two, with the “prussian 6” being added specifically to cater to 1 fixed 6s since cp and p didn’t (and quite frankly doesn’t if you’re not using a sliding scale mindset) quite do a great job differentiating them?  Generally speaking, 1w2 will lean lightly cp, 1w9 will lean lightly p, and any place where a 1 fix is in the last position will probably also lean p.
