Israel's Project 545
Israel has earmarked over half a billion shekels ($145 million) in its 2025 budget to weaponize social media and ChatGPT in its largest U.S. propaganda push since it began carrying out a genocide in Gaza, according to newly filed FARA documents.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry hired U.S. firm Clock Tower—run by Trump’s ex-campaign manager Brad Parscale—to shape online discourse, including attempts to engineer how AI systems like ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini respond to queries about Israel.
The campaign—called Project 545—aims for 50 million monthly impressions, with 80% of its content aimed at Gen Z on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
A parallel program, Project Esther, is bankrolling U.S. influencers: contracts allow payments of up to $900,000, with a monthly budget reaching $250,000.
The plan begins with 5–6 influencers required to post 25–30 times per month, later expanding into larger networks with American agencies and Israeli content creators.
Influencers can earn anywhere from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Netanyahu, who personally met with influencers in New York earlier this month, called social media Israel’s “eighth front” and declared: “The most important weapon today is social media.”
