something that bothered me a lot early on is that generally in a system of elemental magic all elements are equal (ATLA-style) or they have a rock-paper-scissors thing going on (Pokemon-style) but in TDP it's very explicit that Star is wildly more powerful than the other primal sources, and in fact there's a fairly obvious two-level hierarchy where the "celestial" (Star, Sun, and Moon) primals are placed above the "terrestrial" (Sky, Earth, and Ocean) ones
anyway it's not a coincidence or lack of design assets that humans are expelled from Xadia primarily by Sunfire and Moonshadow elves (and ToX, which describes only Sunfire, Moonshadow, and Skywing elves in detail, is explicit that "when it came time to judge the humans, Skywing elves were the least hostile"), or that the "usurper" archdragons fighting over the throne are of the terrestrial primals
"Your kind could not be satisfied with what you were given" and Callum's "insatiable thirst and fascination with magic." Callum's acquisition of both primal and dark magic being not gifts, but acts of theft. (Pardoned after the fact by Claudia and Rayla.) Callum pursuing and claiming multiple arcana when everything else is born with only one and the broader implications of "if humans were supposed to use magic, they would have been born with it" as forbidding elves magic beyond their native arcanum.
the arc 3 ocean arcanum recontextualization is going to be Crazy
Things I think too much about:
Primal sources are genetic, Seemingly, with elves of a singular primal always producing said (active?) primal in their offspring. We've yet to see any elf that's has parents from different primals, and see how primal inheritance works with elf-human pairings.
Which raises the question: by connecting to arcanums, is Callum is literally changing/adding to his DNA and what can be passed on? Is he literally altering his body with each one? What does this mean for his own body and potential physical changes (channels? mixing arcanums?) and for his child(ren) in terms of inheritance if it is?

hmmmmmm
According to the Xadia gamebook, to being able connecting with the Primal Sources, it requires mastery over a specific emotion or mindset.
(Which gives the possibility to master an arcanum through character development like Callum. But its may give the option to connecting with an element by accident, especial when the requirements are fulfilled. For the elves its both easier and harder at the same time. First to grow out of a generational mindset and willingness for character development.)
