thinking about this because i'm rewatching 1x07 but i really appreciate the episode timeline placement of 6x04-6x06 re: Callum's fears about his corruption and getting the quasar diamonds for Rayla. Like, after 6x04, Callum should be devastated. He just learned that there's no way to kill Aaravos and therefore no way to fully free himself from the startouch elf's grasp. And yet, similarly to 1x07 wherein the egg needs help but Callum is also prioritizing and thinking of Rayla now that he knows she has a Problem, he immediately throws himself into getting what she needs with optimistic (slightly obsessive) gusto. You could argue some of this is to avoid thinking about his previous failure (though I personally wouldn't), but I think it speaks volumes to how much he shows love through prioritization and presence. They don't have an answer about Aaravos (or the egg) yet, but he'll be damned if he lets a chance to help Rayla slip through his fingers, and devotes himself wholly to it. It's also a reasonable read that part of his initial 6x06 crashout is because of the "heart of darkness" thing, but also bc he watches Rayla put her family on the backburner Again because the Aaravos situation isn't resolved. Which, sickening on Callum's part in the best way
