Hey, hey, check it out! A Jiangshi! It’s not a yōkai, but it’ll do.
You’ve heard of Jiangshi, right? Chinese vampires? The hoppy dudes? I’m gonna assume you have. They’re a Chinese folklore type thing. And hey, they even show up in the Chai Kingdom, which is based on Ancient China! Sarasaland is a weird place.
But, y’know, between this and the Kurokyura, it’s just kinda weird to see humanoid enemies in a Mario game. It doesn’t feel right to be stomping on them. Their sprite looks like the protagonist of a Commodore 64 game or something. They hop around, like you’d expect, but they also act a bit like Dry Bones, coming back to life after you jump on them.
I’m not really sure how to end this post. Have some fun onomatopoeia instead.
Cleaned up my Pionpi Redesign! I talked about the design points last time but I think it’s very cute and wouldn’t look out of place in a Mario game.
