“You didn’t even see them since ‘day one,’ actually. Because that was never on the show.” - Mary manipulated and lied to John for their whole relationship pre-HLV. That’s why the REVEAL that she was an assassin was a BIG DEAL... because John DIDN’T KNOW... because she had been LYING, and that’s a CANON part of the show. Oh, and if we’re only allowed to call something canon if we actually see it, then guess what isn’t canon? That’s right! Your guys’ whole argument about Sherlolly being canon is based on an assumption that something happened between them off-screen between the ily and the montage. So apparently, you’re allowed to totally make up shit and call it canon, but when we discuss something that we KNOW FOR SURE happened off-screen, it’s not canon because we didn’t see it?

“He more than likely fucked another woman off-screen.” Oh, so we can’t talk about Mary canonically being a liar, but you get to make totally baseless assumptions about what John does off-screen in order to support your biases? What the actual fuck, talk about double standards?!? What happened to “It didn’t happen on the show! You tjlcers just make shit up!” 

“When you say you forgive someone and you’re staying married, you stick with it.” When did John ever go back on his word? He told her from the get-go that he was still angry she tried to kill his best friend - which is totally fucking understandable. Unlike her, he actually made an effort to fix things between them. It was your darling angel MARY who chose to continue keeping secrets. MARY was the cause of their marriage problems in S4, not John. JOHN was the one who reminded her that couples are supposed to talk things out. JOHN was the one who chased her down with Sherlock’s help after she fled.  

“though asshole John did abandon Mary for months during her pregnancy.” How do you know? iT dIdN’t HaPpEn On ScReEn!! Oh - you know because of the “months of silence" line? You used dialogue to fill in the timeline gaps?! Oh, are you suddenly familiar with the concept? And btw, we still have no idea what happened in those months. We don’t know if that line meant John had moved out, or if they just hadn’t talked about it yet. But sure, go ahead and call him a jerk because of your headcanon. Also, are we forgetting who actually, canonically DID abandon her family in S4, including a newborn infant? Yeah, it was Mary. I don’t see you throwing a fit about her ditching her responsibilities (though we all know how much you’d shit on John if he’d been the one to run away). But no, go ahead and call him an asshole for “abandoning” Mary. Yeah, what a jerk, how dare he spend some time alone after finding out his wife has been lying to him since they met, has killed god knows how many people, and tried to murder his best friend in cold blood. 

And yeah, John definitely isn’t innocent himself. He texted another woman and felt immensely guilty afterwards (unlike the zero remorse we saw from Mary when her past was revealed). And yes, he has anger/ violence issues. Unlike you, I’m not going to make excuses for him just because I like John. John isn’t perfect. But he doesn’t deserve to fucking die or be called “trash.”

Because if he’s “trash,” then guess who else is trash? Mary.

Both of them are very flawed and have made bad decisions during their marriage. You don’t get to call one of them trash while upholding the other as a saint. If you’re forgetting, Mary is a LIAR, a paid KILLER, tried to MURDER Sherlock TWICE, and fucking ABANDONED her infant to go kill and play secret agent. But here you are acting as if none of that happened, and Mary is just some poor, faultless victim here. 

If a literal assassin deserves nuance when analyzing her immoral actions, why doesn’t John deserve it too? I’ll tell you why. It’s because Mary is your fave and can therefore do no wrong. John is... John, and you’ll use any excuse to hate him because you’re so blinded by your biases you don’t know how to look at anything objectively.

Continued: Btw idk if you agree, but I thought of this headcanon of Rey in the throne room and she says she'll join him, but only if he agrees that she owns his body. He says yes and she proceeds to peg him (on his back because she likes to see his face) ;) idk if anyone has thought of that yet and I just wanted to say it lol
