we have got to stop coddling stupid people. like ignorant people who are fully capable of edifying themselves on any given topic but are too lazy to do it. if someone doesn’t know something they should can we PLEASE agree to let that person know they need to shut up and go do some reading. like i’m sorry but shame and embarrassment are necessary motivators sometimes. stop asking strangers questions in comment sections and fucking find the answer yourself. it’s not cute to not know things. it’s not cute to admit to not knowing something like it’s quirky and funny. you should be learning constantly. i’m going to start being pretty fucking mean to people if they don’t sort themselves out and learn how to use a search engine.

I know you had issues with HOTD, I think it’s just okay, it definitely could be better. I feel like the exclusion of Nettles, Rhaynera, and Alicent's characterization seemed to stem from a fear of taking any risks with the audience. It just seems like the studio put so much money in and now they don’t want to do anything that might get a negative reaction. What do you think? 🤔

oh the entirety of hotd is 100% a large over-correction project for the way that daenerys's story ended. the show is made to redeem the franchise for people who hated the mad dany arc and want to see an unambiguously good targaryen queen on the iron throne. it does not exist independently in the way that, say, the sw prequels can, nor is it in any way adapting the story martin wrote thematically & philosophically.

hotd is purely fanservice for aggrieved show!dany fans, constantly congratulating itself for being more "progressive" than grrm or the previous show. this despite the fact that it is far more intellectually hollow than fire and blood and functions with internal logic, pacing, and general storytelling caliber just about equal to seasons 6-8 of got. nonetheless hotd benefits from all the risks that both grrm and the previous show took while actually taking none of them itself.

I am seeing SO many shows have the “Daenerys Targaryen Effect” issue these days. The complete refusal to let female characters be characters is becoming such a glaring issue. Honestly Hollywood saw the reaction to Dany’s arc and decided “women must be perfect and never should we criticize their choices or make them appear wrong”

It’s just so boring.

Whenever I read a condal interview I feel like I’ve just read a ridiculous Reddit post written by a fan with no experience in storytelling

Like this basically says

“Having daemon have an “affair” with an underage girl and having Rhaenyra be lowkey classist and racist towards her might make them look bad and that ruins our uncle/niece power couple goals so naturally, we decided to take this boring feminine character who was a truly innocent party in this war, have her claim a wild dragon so she could become “wild” too and be so traumatised she cuts off her hair and goes to live in a cave which makes her far more interesting to us.”

Stopping watching was a good call on your part. Not one woman has an interesting storyline this season. They could have used this Rhaena storyline to give Baela and Rhaena some good scenes together at least but she’s been MIA since Jace died so I’m not holding out hope.

But let’s include unneeded SA scenes, because it pushes the plot forward apparently.

I’m it wasn’t entirely made up. Mushroom is unreliable but daemon and nettles were bathing together, sleeping in adjoining rooms and when nettles left his dragons scream was so loud it shattered the windows of a tower named after a k night who’s one half of a famous couple in Westeros history

Like hello that’s about as ambitious as Jamie saying “Stop being rude to Brienne or I’ll shove your sword in a place even renly never found” to Lora’s in a storm of swords. Or Jon Connington calling rhaegar “my silver prince” like they were clearly having an affair and daemon loves diddling kids. Why is him and nettles being lovers so scandalous

#they cut one of the most interesting stories in F&B #the storyline that is setting something major in the main series #(because someone who’s not Valyrian is claiming a dragon)#because they were afraid to make Daemon and Rhaenyra have martial problems #their is NO hope for this show #George rr Martin should have been meaner #he was TOO kind to Ryan #because how are you fan of the series and not understand this #disgusting #utterly disgusting #I’m glad I’m not watching
