I was going to log on to tumblr and make a humorous, joking rant about how it’s been two whole days and there’s no Jessica Jones/Claire Temple slash yet.

But I checked.  There is.  It’s explicit and well-written.

Here's a holiday shout-out to one of my best fandom friends and favorite femslash author, salmonypink (aka salmon_pink on AO3).  She can write for so many different fandoms and she always captures each character's personality so well.

These are just a few of her amazing ficlets.  Sal is a prolific writer on several LJ communities and I bonded the most with her over at femslash100, where we played drabbletag all summer.  She's a brilliant writer as well as a supportive member of the femslash community, and I'm glad to call her my friend.

Destruction and Defiance--Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gamora/Sharon, PG, 250 words.

-One of my recent favorites...Sal somehow writes these out-there pairings (that I tend to prompt) and has them make so much sense in-universe.

Emeralds In Her Eyes--Once Upon a Time, Regina/Tinker Bell, E, 250 words.

-My favorite writer for this rarepair.  She just gets them so well.

Fine Little Favorite--Jawbreaker, Courtney/Marcie, E, 250 words.

-Such amazing stuff, especially for a small fandom.  Sal is so good at slipping into the narrative style of whatever fandom she writes for.

Hops and Barley--Once Upon a Time In Wonderland, Anastasia/Lizard, G, 250 words. 

-Some of the best OUaTiW characterization out there.  Sal does this small fandom justice!

Jingle Boobs--Marvel Cinematic Universe, Darcy/Jane, M, 500 words.

-Adorable, nerdy holiday fluff with some delicious smut at the end.

Kitty-Catty--Jawbreaker, Courtney/Julie, E, 250 words.

-Another sexy Jawbreaker fic.

Practice Makes Perfection--Once Upon a Time, Aurora/Mulan, E, 500 words.

-This pairing doesn't get a lot of smut, but Sal definitely fills that void!

Throne--Once Upon a Time, Regina/Ruby, E, 200 words.

This is the first day of femslashreviewfest! Every day I'll be putting out one or more reviews of femslash fics that I loved.

Kiss of Life by Salmon_Pink, Ariel/Rapunzel (Disney) | rated M | 3000 words

"Rapunzel's drowning, not in the ocean but instead in fear. Ariel manages to rescue her anyway."

For the first day of reviews, I picked the short but sweet story Kiss of Life by salmonypink, which pairs Ariel and Rapunzel. It's a favorite because I love Disney femslash, and this one perfectly melds the girls' canon backstories into a charmingly original whole. Ariel and Rapunzel are both full of curiosity and wonder, desperately looking to discover a world beyond their own - and here it's fully believable that they find it in one other.

What is the most inspiring movie you have ever seen?  

-The one I can recently think of is "Frances Ha," especially for college students--just because you don't have all your shit figured out doesn't mean things suck.

What is your favorite book and why?

-Tough call, I'm a lit major.  I like The Bell Jar and White Oleander because I like difficult stories about women.

What is the scariest scene you remember from a movie as a kid?

-I've always like horror movies, but when I was super little, I was afraid of the part in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" when the dudes' faces melted.

-"Spit the Dark" by Empires or "Brick" by Ben Folds Five

-The Shire, because it's cute and cozy

-Inside my aunt's walk-in closet

-Flying!

-Natasha Romanov, OUaT's Snow White, Brienne of Tarth

When would you time travel to?

-I sort of like it here where the sexism and racism has ebbed a little, but I would like to see the grunge scene of the 90's

Gif-making is weirdly relaxing - my brain sort of switches off as I lost in the rhythm of it, which is rather a nice feeling after a long day. And eeeee, glad you like my fic! :3    

It's very relaxing, isn't it? Eventually you settle into a groove and don't have to think while making them.
