Why didn't Patrick get the same attention as Chrissy and Fred?
Why doesn't Lucas get character development outside of his love for Max?
Why did they bring Kali back just to torture her more, villanize her, and kill her off?
Why do Lucas and Erica's parents have two scenes in the show and no real hints as to who they are, even though the other party members parents do?
Why is Erica hardly in the epilogue with no lines?

The thing is, I think the I believe ambigious ending might have actually worked if it was a character other than El.
Like if Nancy and Johnathan died in the slime room or Karen and Ted were killed by the demogorgons. And Mike could have given a speech about how somewhere in the midst of the suffering of the Upside Down there's a place with joy too. That could have been the Right Side Up.
We could get flashbacks to Barb and Patrick and Bob and all the people that the Upside Down/Vecna killed, tying into the arc of Dustin's grief over Eddie and the theme that's persevered all throughout the show up until the finale of losing someone you love and having to keep fighting.
If the I believe wasn't presented as an actual theory but as a concept that let them get through their grief.
Instead of 'you have to get over your friend dying and never talk about her again because she's the magic of childhood' or whatever bullshit the Duffers were trying to pull, we could get 'you can't let your grief define your whole life and you have to believe they're in better place.'
And instead we got . . . whatever that was

I've had this question rattling around in my brain for almost seven fucking years now, and I'd like to know if anyone has an explanation.
In season three, why did Billy see an alternate version of himself (and all of the other people the mind flayer would infect) when he got possessed?
My best guess is that it ties back to the "undead army" theory from season two; like maybe the versions of all the people Vecna killed would attack him in his mind. (Like how Chrissy, Fred, and Patrick were technically in his mind when he was going after Max?)
And I've ranted about it before, but the most logical way for the Kas Theory to play out would have been for Eddie to be trapped in Vecna's mind with Max. Especially now with the information that dead demogorgans can be brought back to life as long as you can activate the mind flayer - which is such a crazy bit of information to drop in the last leg of your story and then not do anything with btw!
Idk, I'm kind of convinced that the undead army and the Kas theory were supposed to meet halfway, and be the big thing that helped them take down Vecna from the inside; but they didn't like how so many people guessed that so they changed it.
Does anyone else have a theory as to why that happened? Because it just seems so weird in comparison to what we saw when Will was possessed and the monsters took other people. I'd love to hear someone else's take on this, because it's bugging me that it was never brought up again and I feel like I don't ever see people talking about it.

I have to talk about the hawkins high basketball team for a second
i've been exploring their characters (Jason, Andy, Patrick, and Chanse) a little more in my rewrite and as i rewatch season 4
AND I HAVE THOUGHTS
thinking about a stranger things au where instead of Vecna killing Chrissy, Fred, Patrick, and Max, he instead just ALMOST kills them, and puts them in one of the fucked up mind prison worlds
and if they die in or can’t escape the mind prison within a certain amount of time, they just die
…
and if you combine this with my Cheerheart hedcannons there would probably be some sort of dialogue that goes like this
Chrissy : OH wait a minute… YOU’RE one of Mike’s friends! :)
Max : yeah— wait… how the HELL do YOU know who Mike is???
Chrissy : umm… we’re friends…
Max : …okay for starters, a) how the HELL did you become friends with him, b) WHY did you become friends with him, and c) HOW DO YOU STAND HIM!?!?
