So I was going through stranger things interviews as I noticed I haven't watched a lot of them
Fym "Erica help" was an improv 😭😭😭😭😭oh my god 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
.
The biggest unsolved mysteries in Stranger Things
—What horrible thing happened that made Max have to move to Hawkins
—What did Erica find under Lucas’ bed
Are we talking about the subtle racism and neglect against Lucas and Erica in this fandom and so on because holy shit it is the fucking worse when I see it in SOME of this fandom (emphasise on SOME for the people who for some reason defend themselves when it's clearly not talking about you from what you've said??)
There was time in this fandom where people got so pissed at Lucas for not trusting el at first in season 1(FOR VERY UNDERSTANDABLE REASONS) and ONLY Lucas and started using it as an excuse to hate his ENTIRE character, and made so many frustrating comments about it. It was one of the most irritating things I've ever seen.
People don't seem to want to talk about Lucas's character and stuff we've seen of him as well unless it's about max and Lumax too? Like?? Don't get me wrong I have seen things discussing it, but it's very less frequent. Sure it might just "be my algorithm and what I'm liking" and so on... But that's the thing, I'm liking these posts and actively searching for them but they still only rarely come up. That's not to say you can talk about other things! It's just, I dunno I still wish there was more???
Not to mention that Erica and Lucas HAVE been sidelined a lot in the show unfortunately or reduced, and I really would like people to call it out more like people have done in this blog but for some reason I haven't? Like I actively have to go searching for it and even when I find one, it doesn't seem to get much attraction. And on the rare occasion it does come up and then the op gives really good evidence, there's still people wanting to somehow argue or bring. Another character into it. Like what.
I have so many headcanons for Erica and Lucas. And I've seen so many good ones too. but they hardly get any attention and then their character arcs and scenes with them aren't talked about enough unless it's like "oh Erica is a diva" and "haha Lucas was funny for that" I mean sure whatever, yeah! but WHERES THE DEPTH WHERES THE DISCUSSION I WANT MORE 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Overall, i just feel like people are ignoring Lucas and Erica a lot along with others in favour of the more popular characters (who are also. White! Which I've seen in other fandoms too...). It's very irritating and sometimes there's takes where you can blatantly see why but no one wants to admit that their in the wrong don't theyyyyyyyyyyy
Hope I'm making sense here , I keep asking this ik but I want to make sure my takes are understandable and not misworded or anything 😭

TBT to that time I talked about racism in the fandom and how Lucas and Erica are perceived and got demonized for the same shit their white counterparts do (Mike and Max in this case)
And some dude came onto my blog to be like well not to derail but Max gets treated bad by Mileven shippers in comparison to Mike
And I was just like not to derail but you do. I’m talking about fandom racism and you came in with well the white girl had problems too. Misogyny is bad. 🙃
Coulda made their own post but nah. Lemme talk about Max and sexism when your post is clearly about racism and make it all about white girl. Can’t stand this fandom sometimes.

"she's a side character, she's not at party level on her own so why would she be forefront?"
if the duffers had the ability to make holly, who'd appeared like 3 times in the entire show a main character, showing her trauma around what happened in season 5, then they could've given one fucking scene to erica who was a little girl going through traumatic things. the adultification of black children has BEEN an established issue but sure whatever just ignore it
.
"the duffer brothers treat their poc characters very poorly. Lucas is reduced to just being a boyfriend, Erica gets pushed aside and doesn’t feel properly explored (also they said once ‘nobody is worried about erica she can handle herself’ but like i am!! she’s 11 i’m worried!!) and completely forgot about argyle, and killed kali." Lucas: A strong protector character who uses his skills to help not only his girlfriend but also the children they were taking from Vecna and the rest of the party. He saved Dustin's life, and he is a good person in general. I Don't really know how he was handled poorly he's a great character. IF you mean he was reduced to just being a boyfriend for S3, sure, but so was Mike. It was to show they're young and hormonal. Erica: A highly intelligent, strong and very independent girl. She doesn't let anyone push her around and she isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in and she embraced herself and her interests fully in S4 by joining Hellfire. She's a well made character in my opinion, but keep in mind she's a side character, she's not at party level on her own so why would she be forefront? Argyle: He was more of a comedic relief character reminiscent of Cory Feldman or some of those similar actors from 80s media. He wasn't super well written he was just there in my opinion. Kali: They tried to give her a storyline and give her strength and capability but people hated the episode she was featured in so much that killing her off was just an easy choice I'd imagine. She could have been so much more, but because that episode was so hated, they just went with what the fanbase reaction was I guess.
