Ok… so here me out. I’m obsessed with the book One Last Stop by #caseymcquiston. If it’s made into a movie, THIS is how I picture Jane Su!! Aaggghhh! Have her people call Casey!

a story that smell of sweet snacks, old movies, Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle, the Breakfast Club and at the same time all the flavors of today, now, here. so deeply here.

The chapters were too long with jumps in between where a new chapter would have made sense and there were too many details and side stories that did little to advance the main plot point.

Jane pries open the mystery that is August's existence as much August attempts to crack the very real puzzle of Jane, an impossible girl stuck in the New York subway Q train since the 1970s. Alongside Jane, the cast of supporting characters in the form of August's flatmates and neighbours become August's queer found family who make the city home for her. August's keen and sensitive observer's eye fleshes out in high definition what makes these people feel real and loveable, interesting and relatable. With their gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) nurture and encouragement, they coax August out of the protective shell of indifference she built around herself to give herself permission to feel love, joy, pain and vulnerability. Their race against time to free Jane from her time-space prison invokes an aura of impending doom that adds to the texture of the romance. A romance that captures a love that sweeps you off your feet, that reaches for each other in the desire to know and be known, that creates an easy intimacy and "Somewhere for hope to go? It's good.
