Ea-Nasir
Conservation status: Least Concern
Classification: Non-native, non-invasive
The Ea-Nasir meme was believed by experts to be extinct since 1750 BCE until a live population was uncovered in 1953 CE. The meme remained critically endangered until introduction to the tumblr ecosystem circa 2015. Ea-Nasir is now a thriving meme and we are proud to classify this species as Least Concern thanks to your conservation efforts.
Got some better photos of the splendid breeding get-up on the non-native alpine newts near me in SW Cowal.
Gentle reminder that just because a species is non-native doesn't necessarily mean that they are invasive, and just because a species is native doesn’t mean that they can’t become invasive. For example, in NJ dahlias are non-native but they could never become invasive because the frost in the winter will kill them and they won’t come back unless humans re-plant new tubers. White-tailed deer, on the other hand, are native but have become overpopulated in urban areas due to overdevelopment, and are a detriment to remaining forests where they strip the understory of native vegetation.
I see a lot of gardeners on here and Facebook who go to the extreme of acting like only 100% native gardens are going to be beneficial to pollinators. And while I definitely think people should plant as many natives as they can because they host more species, I’m also not going to get on someone's case about planting a butterfly bush provided it is not in an area with disturbed soil (butterfly bushes need disturbed soil to grow, which is why they are invasive in places like Italy’s pre-alp's because of mudslides). I've found that at my shore house, monarchs and swallowtails found the milkweed and queen anne’s lace (an excellent example of a plant that is not really native, but related closely enough to others that are to sill serve as a host plant for swallowtails) I planted for them only after I planted some butterfly bushes which have a scent that travels further. I’m sure that in time they would have found the host plants, but for the two years I didn't have any butterfly bushes I also didn't have any caterpillars even though I had planted specifically for them.Â
I wanted to clear a fact here today because it’s the second comment I got in one of my fics talking about my grammar. English is not my native language, so yes, I’ll make mistakes in this language. The fact is there are more non-natives speaking English out there than natives, and even natives make mistakes in their language. It’s natural and acceptable.
Maybe I cannot write in English so perfectly, but this is not gonna make me give up. There are plenty of foreign writers who wrote in English even if it’s not their native language. An example of a famous, and I’d say polemic, book is Lolita written by Vladmir Nabokov. There’s also a Canadian writer, Nancy Huston, born in the English part of Canada, but she chose to write in French, a foreign language to her.
We put a lot of effort to write in a foreign language. I write in English because I like it, and I feel like I can express myself better. So, the thing is, if grammar mistakes bother you, then don’t read a fanfic written by a non-native.

Navajo Group Portrait of W. N. Wallace (Non-Native), Called Navaho Bill, Den-Ne-Hi-A-Ji, Called Captain Sam, Native Policeman, and Pin-Zes-Ba, Wife and Step-Daughter of Captain Sam - Dinwiddie - AUG 1894
To my non native English speaking followers and mutuals
This even apples if you are native but you speak another language, don’t be afraid to post in a different language. Chances are I’m a lazy peice of ass that won’t translate it but I feel like it needs to be known that I wouldn’t unfollow or block anyone if they ever posted in a different language. Your own blog is for you and that’s who you are, so post whatever you want!
