So apparently Iām the only one who thinks Jake Sully had crazy plot armor concerning his relationship with Neytiri in the first movie. Like..okay bro moves in and she teaches this fake Navi (the avatar) how to be a real Navi, cool right? That makes sense, but once he becomes a real Navi and they mate and it is revealed less than 24 hours later that said previously fake avatar Navi had something to do with their home being destroyed and inadvertently killing Neytiriās father in the process, she leaves him tied up to be left for dead. Which is totally justifiable in my opinion, she leaves him for dead and tells him to never come back. He comes back on the dragon thing(I forgot what itās called) and I know itās like a symbol of peace but like this is where I start feeling a little suspicious.
This guy comes and reveals that he basically betrayed them and he comes back with the magical dragon and they just..make up right on the spot? Like they donāt actually talk about it? Like Iāve discussed it with some people and they said that the dragon itself symbolizes Toruk Makto so that basically clears out everything wrong he did but that just..seems so fake to me. Well, maybe not fake but severely rushed in my opinion.
Neytiri lost her home and her father less than a week ago and the man responsible is just forgiven just like that? As if she literally didnāt leave him for dead? Not bashing on her or anything (because frankly she could do no wrong in this case) but like..I feel like the writers or directors could have maybe added a little part where they actually speak on what happened or maybe show that Jake is reassuring her outside of the entire clan itself, to add to the fact that theyāre supposed to be mated for life. LIKE I KNOW THIS IS SUCH A NON ISSUE but I also feel like..if thatās the direction they were going to go with it then it might have just been better for Neytiri and Jake to have just been friends..?
Like someone had mentioned that āwell they were in the middle of a warā (which I mean technically no because at that time Miles or whatever bros name was only begun to discuss talking about going after Jake is when Jake had begun to ACTIVELY bring the clans together) they were but werenāt in the middle of a war. But even still, as theyāre flying together I feel like they still couldāve added a part where they actually could talk about the very big and serious issue that happened. And then just in general like yeah they added some playful scenes between the two of them but I wish they kept the deleted scene where they were holding hands and whatnot. Idk it could just be me but I feel like the whole āreunionā scene with Jake being Toruk Makto couldāve been a little more heartfelt with Neytiri since sheād just lost her dad.
