I've got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Review:
I've read the first book a while back and honestly I do remember the main characters, but only slightly so I needed to remind myself quite a bit. This book was amazing! I'd say it it was even better than the first book! Also when I started reading my "time" was 7 hrs, but when it finally loaded completely it was 10 hrs and around 30 mins and I was like "Damn, this is a hell of a long book, haha!" I was afraid I'd get tired of it eventually, but nope! Quite opposite. I need more of it. When I was 50% in, I couldn't believe it and I knew that I'd need even more of this book! I gotta say that Raylin is an amazing writer, seriously! She exactly knows how to drag you in and not let go! We've got 2 POVs here and both were amazing! One time -only- did I want the POV to be more Avery than Jim, but I can't complain other than that. I loved Avery more than anything. I loved how strong she was from the first page of the book till the end. I also loved how she didn't want to spoil her daughter Addison, which is rare to read about in books. I loved her comebacks and appetite for food. So fun to watch and read unravel. Jim was amazing too! He was way different than his brother, but super protective and supportive of him. I loved him. He was funny, but serious when needed. Didn't show much to other people, but lot to people he cared about. He did have his inner demons he needed to fight to get through it, but in the end he could manage it. He was a super hard workaholic, but the moment he was with Avery he tried his best to be present with her and Addy. I loved the way Raylin brought other characters into this book too. I loved seeing Ash, Jake, Collin, Alex and more people being involved. Especially I loved and laughed a lot at many scenes that involved them. My, probably the most, favourite scene was when Jim asked Jake to go and buy McDonald's for everyone. Since Jake is a cardiovascular doctor, he asked something along the way "Are you seriously asking cardiovascular doctor to go and buy fat food?", but when he came back with Ash, he didn't bring 2-4 bags of food for everyone, nope! He bought like 15 bags with him, haha! I was laughing so much! THE best scene in this book! I really loved it. I can't wait to read Dr. Brooks: Billionaires' Club Book 3 next! I loved all the characters, they are unique and fun. PS: I might edit this review later on or add more.

The gift of 'Hamilton': Shaker High students make their history teacher's Broadway dream come alive (cleveland.com) [x]:
The plot was hatched in Bio class in December 2015. Emma Ponitz and Allison Stewart were talking about what to get their teachers for the holidays.
Earlier that day, Mitchell had joked that they should buy him tickets to "Hamilton" for Christmas. "If you want 'em, you can't get 'em, unless you mortgage your house," he'd quipped.
"Well, how much do tickets even cost?" Emma wondered. They went online and did a little research. "Dang, that's really expensive," she said.
But Emma liked a challenge. As her friends will tell you, once Emma sets her mind to something, more often than not, she makes it happen.
The girls recruited Tessa Shlonsky, on her way to her locker to grab her violin, and began trolling resale sites.
They did some quick calculations, and the idea didn't seem so insane after all. If lots of students gave small amounts of money, like donors to the Bernie Sanders campaign, they might be able to raise enough cash to send Mr. Mitchell and his wife, Susan, a former guidance counselor at Shaker, to the show.
It was nearly impossible to find a solo seat – most brokers were selling tickets in pairs. Plus, for Mitchell to go alone would be weird, Emma said. And rude, Tessa added.
They enlisted Isler as a co-conspirator, a canny addition to their top-secret operation. She had a brother in New York; she and Tim could stay with him, so they wouldn't have to spend a fortune on a hotel. But when they asked her to help them choose a date, she balked.
Her husband juggled several classes at a time, and his weekday schedule was packed tight. The weekends were no better. He was at school almost every Saturday, planning lessons and grading, Isler told them, sometimes on Sundays, too.
She suggested that they dummy up some fake tickets to present to him and offer him a list of dates to choose from. (They settled on five or six options in 2016, from early March through July. Miranda will take his final bow in "Hamilton" Saturday, July 9.)
All they had to do was collect the cash.
Allison made fliers outlining the plan – "Wouldn't it be better to get him one big present instead of a bunch of little presents?" – and the trio distributed them to Mitchell's classes when he was out teaching a workshop for other history teachers. Then donations started pouring in, $5 at a time.
"It was crazy, because we had like a ton of money in our backpacks," Emma said. "It was kind of sketchy."
Mitchell, it must be said, has a knack for making the often-moribund subject of history come alive by infusing his college-level AP class with just enough performance art to keep it fun.
In one well-known exercise, he takes on the role of President George Washington, with students sitting on opposing panels – one made up Hamiltonians, the other of Jeffersonians – to advise him and engage in lively debate. It doesn't hurt that Mitchell happens to be the same height and weight as POTUS No. 1: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds.
The popular teacher was accustomed to getting cookies and other homemade goodies from his students. But as the holidays approached and no treats appeared, Mitchell worried aloud to his wife. "Maybe I'm losing my game," he said.
It took Emma and her crew a week and a half to raise the $700 they needed. People Tessa didn't know had come up to her in the hallway and pushed wads of cash into her hand.
[. . .]
As Emma distracted him, Anna Walker, a precocious sophomore at 14, gathered everyone outside. "It was a giant group," Anna said. On cue, they sardined into Mitchell's office, singing a tune from "Hamilton."
It took a while to convince him that the handmade prop tickets – printed with the words "one for you" and "one for your lady" – would soon be swapped for real ones. Anna thought he looked as though he were about to cry.
