"And you call me a monster." Kelpie let out a hiss like laugh. Her trident pointed at Ada.
Silence masked the space between the two as the raven-haired woman stood across from the other. Her weight adjusted on the right side of her hip while her arms hung loosely across her ribs. Her face didn’t show any of that for fear, nor a reaction at all. Composure was always Ada’s most powerful weapon.
Denying a reaction would have them live in the shadows of their own words. Made them think, and ponder what the next move was. Anticipation truly was cruel. “You seem to misunderstand me.” She finally said with a tone that would feel like silk sliding over a sharp blade.
Ada took a step forward. The sound of her heel tapping against the ground echoing. “I didn’t call you a monster.” She corrected the female before her as another step closer came. “Predictable yes, you standing there with your weapon drawn is evidence of that.” She explained as another step came.
She halted a few feet away from her, the point of closing so much distance in a measured time was for Ada to show no means or fear or hesitation. For the raven-haired woman excelled in her ability to maintain control over all situations. “I’ve spent my life around men who thought fear was a form of power. Those same men used to hid behind armies instead of fighting their own battles.”
She adjusted shifting her weight to her other hip, never breaking the eye contact she held so well. “Every single one became a monster, and that was their end. They wanted everyone else to wear the blame for what they had become, but the truth was.. they were monsters long before they mutated.” She hummed bringing a finger up and tapping her temple. “I don’t care what you call yourself, but don’t think that name came from me. I don’t cater to such trivial labels when I know what the world holds.”
