Without a warning gentle fingers dove straight into his hair, shaking her hands a bit to flop the longer strands about her nails lightly scraping his scalp. Ruffling his hair leaving it a mess.“Sorry, Anon made me do it.” She mused playfully.

He slightly lifted his jaw to her

He though about Ada's words a moment, looking at the papers and then back at her.

She caught him looking over at the papers, her eyes narrowing. “Don’t think about work, not today.. the moment you do, I will also return to work.”Ada’s eyebrow raised a slow curve forming on her features.“You chased me all these years Leon and have had no thoughts on what you would do if you ever got me to yourself.” Gentle fingers brushed along his collarbone, deliberately making it seem suggestive. She always enjoyed teasing him.

"Hunnigan will have my head.. though wouldn't be the first time." He shrugged in the end. His heart started to beat a little faster as he felt her delicate touch on his skin, swallowing and clearing his throat before he spoke. "Can you blame me? It was never obvious, nor is it still. Neither is any normalcy in my life as long I work in the field." He looked at Ada, knowing full well she also knew what he ment. Normalcy was a privilege, that was granted at this point. But a bullet to the head was more expected.

Her eyes moved to her hands where they traced his collarbone,gentle fingers glided from there to his throat. “I’m jealous, would rather not make her upset.” A small hum under her breath showed it was another tease. Showing no malice in the gesture. She let her hand then fall to her side, removing her touch from him. “I know.” She brushed the tip of her shoe against the tile. “No rest for people like us.” Dark gems settled for a more thoughtful look, almost distant. “Guess I’m just growing tired. A girl can hope.”

She heard the apologetic tone, offering a small smile in return. She took his phone, inserting the number of the phone she had at least the number she had until her next job. Then her finger moved over the camera function, Ada was never one to ask for permission when she was doing something. She was a woman of her own drum, she then proceeded to raise the phone in the air like a teen with Snapchat and took a photo of herself before handing it back to him without even explaining why.

He entered his number into her phone and closed it. He tried to hand it back, but stopped when he saw Ada taking a selfie. The sight short circuited his brain completely, causing him almost to drop her phone. His lips parted as he tried to say something but couldn't get the words out, he was just baffled. He shook his head and blinked rapidly for a second before finally taking his own phone and giving hers back

She watched his nose crunch when she tapped it. Her hands dropping to her sides smoothing over the silk she currently wore, ensuring there wasn’t any wrinkles from her movements. Her eyebrow arched at his words. “You make it sound suggestive.” She teased as she shifted her phone from one hand to the other, the childish teddy bear charm attached to it waving around.

"Yes, ma'am." He lifted to of his finger to his forehead and saluted her a good bye. After Ada had left, he started to collect his riding gear from the back of his closet where they were just collecting dust at this point. Yes, he had riding gear, pretty expensive and high-quality even, he just didn't use it. Though this time, he thought maybe it would be wise to wear it. He looked over his gear and finally found his plated leather riding jacket and plated riding jeans. They looked casual enough to pass as normal clothes if you didnt look too closely at the bulkiness.

The place Ada was staying in was a luxury condominium most would use for vacation. As a woman who lived her life running it was as close to a set home she would have. Still better than a motel in the middle of nowhere, she had chosen the high floors in order to have an overview that wasn’t blocked by buildings after all her peace was always found with the falling of rain.

"U know me, I'm an office rat." He laughed, shaking his head. He looked Ada over as a whole and definitely noticed the difference. Standing up from his motorcycle and leaving his bag on the seat, he headed over to where Ada was standing, looking her up and down.

“Office rat.. Lapdog… Careful you may pick up a whole zoo of nicknames.”She rebuttaled with a tease, As he stepped closer her eyes shifted away from contact realizing the height difference herself. She was used to standing closer to his height, now in riding boots she realized the size comparison. Not that she was complaining.

"Gotta catch 'em all." He quipped back, all while watching the realization about the height difference dawn on her. Tilting his head and cocking a brow, he watched her cover her mouth. "You okay down there?" His hum filled with playful amusement as he witnessed her collecting her thoughts.

He never actually sped up to highway speeds this time; he just cruised along to road enjoying the evening and the cold breeze in his lungs, finally able to breath without a worry on his mind.

He was still lying on the bed, though this time he wore the t-shirt and light grey sweats that he always wore when he was home, something to ground him and signal to his nervous system that he was safe. He was half-asleep but still reacted when the door opened, letting his gaze fall toward it.

She watched him shift to several states, from half-lidded exhaustion to an awkwardly staring then shifting to the bathroom. Her head tilted her fingers curled against the fabric of the lazy t-shirt she wore now as if with the couture and makeup she was someone completely different. She had been so used to washing away mask she wore like a second skin the moment she was settled she had forgotten she wasn’t alone. “Mmm” Finally escaped her gentle lips. “I didn’t use all of it, there is plenty for you.” She said to the closed door.

He had to take a deep breath, just to gather his thoughts. She had definitely noticed him staring.. He washed his face in the sink before stripping to shower. For a second she simply stared absentmindedly her fingers moving almost robotic as she listened to his response, her mind processing the fact that this was what peace actually felt like. "Hunnigan will have my head.. though wouldn't be the first time." He shrugged in the end. His heart started to beat a little faster as he felt her delicate touch on his skin, swallowing and clearing his throat before he spoke. "Can you blame me? It was never obvious, nor is it still. Neither is any normalcy in my life as long I work in the field." He looked at Ada, knowing full well she also knew what he ment. Normalcy was a privilege, that was granted at this point. But a bullet to the head was more expected.

Her eyes moved to her hands where they traced his collarbone,gentle fingers glided from there to his throat. “I’m jealous, would rather not make her upset.” A small hum under her breath showed it was another tease. Showing no malice in the gesture. She let her hand then fall to her side, removing her touch from him. “I know.” She brushed the tip of her shoe against the tile. “No rest for people like us.” Dark gems settled for a more thoughtful look, almost distant. “Guess I’m just growing tired. A girl can hope.”

She heard the apologetic tone, offering a small smile in return. She took his phone, inserting the number of the phone she had at least the number she had until her next job. Then her finger moved over the camera function, Ada was never one to ask for permission when she was doing something. She was a woman of her own drum, she then proceeded to raise the phone in the air like a teen with Snapchat and took a photo of herself before handing it back to him without even explaining why.

He entered his number into her phone and closed it. He tried to hand it back, but stopped when he saw Ada taking a selfie. The sight short circuited his brain completely, causing him almost to drop her phone. His lips parted as he tried to say something but couldn't get the words out, he was just baffled. He shook his head and blinked rapidly for a second before finally taking his own phone and giving hers back

She watched his nose crunch when she tapped it. Her hands dropping to her sides smoothing over the silk she currently wore, ensuring there wasn’t any wrinkles from her movements. Her eyebrow arched at his words. “You make it sound suggestive.” She teased as she shifted her phone from one hand to the other, the childish teddy bear charm attached to it waving around.

"Yes, ma'am." He lifted to of his finger to his forehead and saluted her a good bye. After Ada had left, he started to collect his riding gear from the back of his closet where they were just collecting dust at this point. Yes, he had riding gear, pretty expensive and high-quality even, he just didn't use it. Though this time, he thought maybe it would be wise to wear it. He looked over his gear and finally found his plated leather riding jacket and plated riding jeans. They looked casual enough to pass as normal clothes if you didnt look too closely at the bulkiness.

The place Ada was staying in was a luxury condominium most would use for vacation. As a woman who lived her life running it was as close to a set home she would have. Still better than a motel in the middle of nowhere, she had chosen the high floors in order to have an overview that wasn’t blocked by buildings after all her peace was always found with the falling of rain.

"U know me, I'm an office rat." He laughed, shaking his head. He looked Ada over as a whole and definitely noticed the difference. Standing up from his motorcycle and leaving his bag on the seat, he headed over to where Ada was standing, looking her up and down.

“Office rat.. Lapdog… Careful you may pick up a whole zoo of nicknames.”She rebuttaled with a tease, As he stepped closer her eyes shifted away from contact realizing the height difference herself. She was used to standing closer to his height, now in riding boots she realized the size comparison. Not that she was complaining.

"Gotta catch 'em all." He quipped back, all while watching the realization about the height difference dawn on her. Tilting his head and cocking a brow, he watched her cover her mouth. "You okay down there?" His hum filled with playful amusement as he witnessed her collecting her thoughts.

Her eyebrow raised shaking her head as she followed him. “Catch them all, says the federal ferret.” She taunted wrinkling her nose in a playful way she would never dare show in the field. She didn’t respond on if she was okay, simply kept walking. There was absolutely no way she would address the situation her height left her in.

He laughed at her suggestion, released the clutch and hit the gas. He had no idea where they were going, but he knew a road he loved to cruise down when driving alone at night. So off they went.

She had expected the ride to be enjoyable, she hadn’t expected for it to make her crave the quiet mundane things. At first her eyes remained on the road, the gentle weave of the backroads and detours. Then the scenery, sights that she normally overlooked never noticed when she was stealing samples or hunting targets. The mask of the cold exterior fade-hearted woman faded leaving just her, the woman she thought was long buried. Here on the back of a bike, clinging onto Leon for stability she wasn’t a predator for once.

Her eyes left the fading horizon , her eyes snapped to him without moving too much. Watching him get himself comfortable the word alone lingering in Ada’s mind. “You should find someone then.” She said crossing one leg over the other, her gaze returning to the horizon. “You aren’t getting any younger Leon, You deserve to have someone that quiets the screams.” A faint curve of her mouth. “Or at a minimal someone to run away with and forget the world.” She stated as a suggestion, because if anyone deserved happiness it was him.

A huffed laugh escaped him at her comment. "I think you'll like an actual pillow better." With a shake of his head, he stood up and stretched his back.

“Maybe, most pillows aren’t warm from the start. Nor do they smile when they see me like I’m worth having around.” She gave a wink as she stretched herself, her eyes shifted back to the sky. Now much darker than it had been when they stopped. Small flickers covering it.

"Why do you sound like, you want me to miss the place?" He laughed as he turned to drive back where they came from. He never actually sped up to highway speeds this time; he just cruised along to road enjoying the evening and the cold breeze in his lungs, finally able to breath without a worry on his mind.

Her eyes never left the horizon from where her cheek simply pressed to the back of his shoulder, perhaps using him as a shield for the more direct airflow. She herself hadn’t taken notice of the way the sky looked at night, when gunfire and intent wasn’t flooding the air. She wouldn’t have minded being lost to the silence for a moment longer, where she could actually hear herself think rather than running on adrenaline and instinct.

He slowed down as he took the turn into the parking lot. He drove across it, stopping next to the wall; he obviously didn't trust anything enough to just leave his bike out in the open. As he came to a full stop, he put his foot down to steady the bike and helped Ada get off. After turning his bike around, he parked it next to the wall so it wasn't the first thing people would see just driving by. He took his backpack and managed to finally throw it on one of his shoulders, and pocketed his bike keys.

She adjusted her own small bag as they walked, the day was catching up to her she had to admit. Ada wasn’t one who slept often, let alone relaxed the fact her guard was down enough to even feel the effects of the day said plenty about the experience, maybe even the company. “If I wanted to play gentleman I would have made you let me drive long before now.” She said with a rare smile quirking her lips. “It would be unfair to steal the title from you.”

"Didn't know I had a title." He chuckled wearily. It didn't take long for them to reach the main entrance. As they got there, he opened the door for her and let her go first, following closely behind.

The check in process had become a team effort. What started with one casual look in her direction shifted to total responsibility over every poorly executed sales pitches, the second question came with a gesture, by the third any chance at sneaking in an unwanted package for the two was sealed. Leon was the nicer between them, Ada simply was a handful to deal with.

"No you didn't." A mumbled from the bed his voice slightly muffled. He rolled onto his back and kicked his footwear off, dropping them just beside the bed. After hearing Adas quip he stared at her with his mouth agape "Low blow Ada, low blow." He teased, sounding disappointed but laughed it off.

Stepping into the bathroom she set the change of clothes on the sink. She had brought her own soap, because despite the aspects of their jobs Ada was still a very high maintenance woman. She stepped into the shower, the warmth of the water cascaded over her body relaxing muscles she hadn’t even known were tense. The scent of her soap and shampoo filled the small room with a light floral scent.

He was still lying on the bed, though this time he wore the t-shirt and light grey sweats that he always wore when he was home, something to ground him and signal to his nervous system that he was safe. He was half-asleep but still reacted when the door opened, letting his gaze fall toward it.

She watched him shift to several states, from half-lidded exhaustion to an awkwardly staring then shifting to the bathroom. Her head tilted her fingers curled against the fabric of the lazy t-shirt she wore now as if with the couture and makeup she was someone completely different. She had been so used to washing away mask she wore like a second skin the moment she was settled she had forgotten she wasn’t alone. “Mmm” Finally escaped her gentle lips. “I didn’t use all of it, there is plenty for you.” She said to the closed door.

He had to take a deep breath, just to gather his thoughts. She had definitely noticed him staring.. He washed his face in the sink before stripping to shower. Water fell over his body like rain in the middle of the storm. Standing under the showerhead with his head lowered, letting water slide from his hair down to his face, just staying there for a moment to savor the calm silence in his own little bubble. His mind started to quiet down little by little as time passed. It took him almost an hour to actually wash up, because of all the time he simply stood there.

Her eyes didn’t budge from the words on the page. Ada seemed utterly engrossed within the pages of the novel she read, a world far beyond one that had viruses and mutant creatures. She could hear Leon shuffling, despite her eyes being trained on the pages of the book a smile curved on her lips.

A sincere, huffed laugh escaped from him as he turned his gaze to the roof to trace the lines in there. Relaxed, sure, more like tired. But he knew what Ada meant. "Yeah I guess.. could say the same to you." His voice was soft and low as he felt himself to actually relax and just existing in a moment. There wasn't even a hint of his usual sarcasm and jokes in sight. It was almost as if the tall walls he used to cope with the chaos of his life, had suddenly disappeared.

Her fingers brushed his hair with a sense of gentleness that normally didn’t come from people like them. For a second she simply stared absentmindedly her fingers moving almost robotic as she listened to his response, her mind processing the fact that this was what peace actually felt like. It was definitely a new feeling, the fact they didn’t need to be on guard or planning their next move. They just simply needed to exist.

She couldn’t argue with him on it being odd. For a fraction of a second Ada tried to remember when the last time she herself had been able to truly rest. She simply hummed in agreement, her fingers toying with the fabric of the blanket on her bed.

He thought about her words, and listened, but nothing really came from it. His head was empty. He didn't have any thoughts there, just nothing. He tried to figure out what to say, or even come up with a response —something. "Maybe, for the first time, I actually don't know what I'm thinking. My head is awfully quiet." The words dripped from his lips like a confession he was afraid to admit. There was always something to think about, but now.. there really wasn't. It didn't feel right in his body; it was like something vital was missing. All the same his tensed muscles were relaxed, eyes weren't sharp and weary and his mind didn't race. He could breath slowly without his heart beating mile a minute. He was actually calm.

Silence fell between them comfortably, a slight smile gracing her gentle features. Amber gems studying his posture, the way his shoulders relaxed a slight sense of pride bubbled within her. It brought her joy that she could grace Leon with a sense of peace, even if temporary in the lives they both lived.

Her eyes shifted over to look at him, her smile remained on her face it was almost like she couldn’t see the impact she had on him. Perhaps the retreat to the window had been her way of retreating back to the guard she kept. “It’s raining.. not heavily but enough that it would have been cold if we were still out there.”
