Azriel is an entity known by several names over many different cultures and people. The most common ones that she gets are harbinger of death, grim reaper, harvester of souls and the pale rider. While she can often be referred to as a bad omen and other names, Azriel is one of many entities who guides souls into the after life.

Even though she carries the title of angel of death, she does the job in a calm empathetic manner. Azriel will also take a certain form based on ones culture and beliefs when she does come offering guidance to the after life.

Azriel is not a religious based oc. She runs on her own set of headcanons.

"Afterlife they choose? Do you mean like which religions afterlife or we talking more detailed. Like choosing to go to Elysium or not?" She asked.

"Yes based on ones religion they will be guided to that afterlife. Well yes and no some do ask to go there while others ask to go to certain afterlife's for missions of sorts.

"Lots of people are familiar with death. Having wings can be seen as many things not just death. But no I did not immediately think about death just because you have wings."

"As far as I know yes. Its alot more than just guiding souls to the afterlife they choose. Myself as well as the other two do provide safe passage for the living for payment. Now this safe passage does range from person to person but its something that we take care of when that happens."

"A lot of angels or angels of death have portals to allow the dead pass to their rightful afterlife. Occasionally the living require a way through at a price. Its my job to have the portals so I can accompany the dead to the afterlife based on the beliefs they had."

"And I thought the underworld was already complicated enough." She pressed her prosthetic hand against her brow. A headache already starting to form as she tried to comprehend everything.

"Wait? There's multiple angels of death?" She stared down at the ground. Does that mean she's related through some technicality? "How many are there."

River quickly turned around and summoned her scythe. She had been investigating a portal that had popped up near her. It was hard to describe how she exactly knew it was there. She could just... sense it. More or less.

River held her scythe tightly in her hands. Her wings pressed close to her back. "Who are you?" She pointed her weapon at her. While she seemed friendly, River had learn that friendliness often hid ill intent.

"I am the angel of death named Azriel." She said still in that calm manner of hers. "Are you seeking safe passage or are you seeking passage to the afterlife of your choosing?" She asked again.
