idk who needs to hear this: microlabels are so so so so so so fucking important
what makes me say this is aspec microlabels specifically. I have now two friends who realized they were on the arospec and the acespec because microlabels exist
please stop shitting on them, they are such a good way to explain to someone why they are still Identity, even if they don't fit the Identity Criteria
Fantasy novel about a group of photogenic young Chosen Ones who all have oddly specific and faintly culturally anachronistic queer microlabels in a way that initially seems crassly pandering, except over the course of the story it becomes increasingly clear whatever is doing the choosing is trying to circumvent one of those "neither X or Y" prophecies with respect to the principal villain's putative immortality.
Hot take I genuinely dgaf if a queer person uses "too many micro labels", has a "confusing identity" or uses xenogenders to label how they feel. It's none of my business and if someone feels like any of these clicks with how they feel inside, and subsequently it brings them joy, then who am I to mock them for it?
You don't have ever to choose between being a boy or a girl
You don't ever have to use a specific label or term
You don't need anyone's permission to call yourself queer or nonbinary or trans or enby
In fact, you don't need anyone's permission to call yourself any of those words almost by the definitions of the words themselves
There's no judge. There's no tryouts, there's no membership card, there's no applications or fees (and thank goodness for that!!!)
In fact, because gender and queerness are both, at their core, about the ways people feel inside and want to interact (with each other, with society, with their own concept of self, etc.), there are very few hard boundaries at all
And you certainly don't have to figure out a specific label or a specific gender identity in order to figure out want you want - in life, in queerness, in gender, in general - and start to move toward it
