A concept, but what if folks who were mesoamerican/indigenous/african-american could just... attend collegiate courses on mesoamerican/indigenous/african-american studies for free?..
Like yeah. "Education should be free for everyone", but the point here I am trying to making is the inherent cruelty in making sure that the only people who get to """study""" us - AREN'T us.

You know... today was both Indigenous People's Day and National Coming Out Day for the "U.S." And despite following both indigenous blogs and queer blogs I hadn't seen anyone make a post talking about queer indigenous folks. But I hope there were some.

And to all of the other queer natives of Turtle Island I want you to know that you existing is amazing. You're here in spite of all efforts to the contrary. Its not been easy. Its been hard, complicated, sometimes even lonely and confusing. But we are here none the less, breathing and growing. We climb so that the people who come after can be just that much closer to the sun. π±βοΈ

Xochipilli is the "Flower Prince", the Nahua god of flowers, pleasure, love, dance...and associated with human sexuality and Queerness.
They/he is depicted as gender fluid and both man and woman having a Cihuayollotl ("heart of a woman")... The symbol in the center is the pictogram for "xochitl" which means "flower" in Nahuatl.
Xochipilli is the patron god of sex workers, transgender folks, two-spirit folks, and Queers.
As a mixed race chicane and someone who has been estranged by family for my gender - I often feel ROOTLESS. Like my heritage has been colonized and whitewashed before I had the chance to find community. But Xochipilli is a reminder that Flowers cannot always see their Roots.
Regardless we bloom. π»
