VSMP Bat Conservation Event: April 12-18
Hello, all! This is an announcement for a Vampires SMP community event to support bat conservation. There’s a lot of misconceptions surrounding bats being evil or dirty or diseased, which makes it really hard to get people to care about some bat species that are already struggling with survival. Bats are close to the heart of VSMP, so i thought we could do something to raise awareness and support within our community.

When this event occurs: April 12th-18th, as International Bat Appreciation Day falls on the 17th of that week.

How to participate: Create a post with a piece of art or a story that includes bats in VSMP in some way, and include a donation link to a bat conservation group with it. All posts will need to either tag this blog, or use a hashtag (#vsmp bat conservation event) so that we can find and reblog it to share the love. It’s not required but including information about bats themselves either within the work or separately is encouraged.
Who can participate: Everyone! Regardless of skill level, everyone is invited to participate. And if you’re not able to participate directly, you can still help by donating or liking/reblogging other people’s works.
Accepted art: Digital, traditional, 3D, short stories, poems, get creative! You may make as many posts as you like.

RULES:
All posts must be include bats in some way
All posts must include a donation link to a verified bat conservation group. A couple good ones are listed below
All posts must either tag this blog or use the hashtag #vsmp bat conservation event
AU’s are accepted, as long as it complies with the rest of the rules
No sexism, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or hate of any other kind
No NSFW. That means:
No gore (Minimal violence/blood is acceptable. This is Vampires SMP after all)
No nudity/sexual situations
No use of AI of any kind
Posts may be crossposted to AO3, just be careful NOT to request donations, due to their strict rules regarding money. Although we ask that you do create a link to this post so that people can find us. Crossposting to other social media is also allowed, so long as you follow all the rest of rules and include the donation link.
Any posts that don’t have anything to do with bats will not be reblogged or included in the event. If any post doesn’t have a link to a conservation group you will be asked to edit the post to include it. Please make sure to tag this blog or use the dedicated hashtag, otherwise we won’t be able to find and reblog it. Any other broken rules will result in being asked to take the post down and/or your account being blocked, at the mods discretion.

i personally don't feel comfortable handling money in any way, so all donations will need to be made directly to the conservation group(s). The downside to that would be that there won't be a specific monetary goal, and we won’t know how much gets donated in the end. HOWEVER.
To incentivize participation, i will be taking art requests. For each request that is made, I WILL DONATE $5.00 USD (capped at $500 USD). That means even if you're not an artist or writer, and donating is outside of your means, you still have the opportunity to be involved in a meaningful way!
All art requests must be sent as an ask, and must follow the above stated rules, otherwise it will be deleted. You may send an ask early, but it will only be fulfilled after the event starts on April 12th. Requests will not be accepted after April 18th (or if we hit the $500 goal).
