when i went to school in chile i took a pre-columbian literature course and nearly every text we read had both spanish and nahuatl translations on each page and i felt so lucky to be interacting with texts in a pre-colonization language like that was such a beautiful expansive experience
also the azteca creation myths are so visceral man those stories will blow your mind no matter what language you read them in. that god killed another god and placed his head in a tree and then that tree grew fruit that gave birth to another god? hell yeah dude that’s so metal 🤘
