The 4th Anniversary celebration continued this morning as we hosted members of the Maryland Beer Drinkers Club on Facebook for a collaboration brew day! "What MBDC Does" Hazy DIPA (8.2ish%) was designed collectively by the members of the group by a series of design surveys where they chose increasingly specific directions for the beer. They ended up designing a boundary-pushing brew centered on boosting aromatic compounds known as thiols. Thiols are naturally occurring organic compounds that boost tropical flavors of passionfruit, guava, and more. They're found in abundance in certain varietals of hops and ESPECIALLY in Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in New Zealand. As part of this thiol hunting project, we've incorporated a brand new thiol precursor-rich product called Phantasm. Produced in limited quantities by @phantasm.nz, it's made from the dried skins of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc grapes. In combination with a heavy mash hop of thiol precursor-rich New Zealand Cascade hops followed by fermentation with Cosmic Punch, the thiol liberating yeast from @omegayeast, this beer should scream with tropical fruit flavors. An accessory dry hop of Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin will round out the flavor and aroma additions. Community building is the best part of what we do! Today, we hosted an open brew day for members of the Maryland Beer Drinkers Club group on Facebook. (If you haven't joined yet, go check it out! 10k+ Maryland beer enthusiasts share what they're excited about and it's a great place to interact with the brewers and reps from many of your favorite Maryland breweries.) Today's brew was "Black Cat" Black IPA (6.4%) ft. Centennial, Amarillo & Sequoia hops. We discussed malting, ingredient selection, mash enzymes, vorlaufing, and so much more. We were also lucky enough to be joined by Ty Kreis from @hysteriabrewery who brought his own stories and experiences into the mix. We work our tails off out here but it's always a nice respite to spend an afternoon making new friends and sharing our love of the craft. AHH, YES, THE ARROW PART? I'll be honest, I high-key thought when he did that he was going to fail miserably, like it was going to be some comedic nonsense to back up the whole lazy Crown Prince thing so when he pulled the Merida on us I was like dAANNG 100% even more attracted to you now Prince. I love how they keep having the Crown Prince exceed expectations based off his original appearance because they make you think he is going to be super impulsive but he actually is quite calculated.

And not as impulsive and dumb as everyone kind of thinks/treats him as? Like you said he is actually quite calculated and I love that. I think he has the makings of a great king. A really really great one.
