The broken mask with all that glistening blood-like red seeping through the cracks speaks of vulnerability and being upfront about one's brokenness rather than projecting an image of cool invulnerable bad guy. I like it. I also wonder how Rey will react to it. It would shock me if we don't get a "take it off, I want to see your face" moment echoing the bridge scene in TFA. Bonus points if Rey is the one who removes it.
