Many people asked me who are the women represent in the sculpture that I show in my stories.   Well is not easy to explain but I will try; these two women are Coralia and Maruxa better known as #asduasmarias or #asduasenpunto an icon for the city of #santiagodecompostela and an example o resilience for the rest of the world. Daughters of a Seamstress (Consuelo Ricart) and a Shoemaker (Arturo Fandiño) their brothers started very soon to stand out in the CNT (Confederación Nacional del Trabajo – an anarcho-syndycalist labour union confederation) They grew up loved and protected in a very creative environment, they wore clothes design by their own during the second Spanish Republic in a cultural and progresist scenario.  Until 18th July 1936 when coup d’état will lead to the Spanish Civil War and finally to the dictatorship of Franco. Their brothers had to scape as they were chased and finally killed for their political ideology. Maruxa and Coralia started to live a hell on earth; constant police interrogatories in the middle of the night, stripped naked for public humiliation, forced to shave their heads and sentenced to ostracism. Some historians said that probably they were raped and tortured. All this and the lost of theirs brothers damaged their mental health. They already have nothing to lose, so they make up extravagantly, dressed with all the colors that society of the time reproved, even catcalling students, is to say, doing all things that women should not do under the dictatorship of Franco.             The time passed by and they become a joke, two crazy ladies to laugh about it. Only the people of Santiago knew the story behind the colors and the most of them wouldn’t tell anybody avoiding possible problems or just for the shame of not doing anything against injustice. Maybe both. They lived the last years in poverty, living almost of charity but always under their own standards. Standing and challenging a mediocre and coward society of the moment, WITH THE STRENGTH THAT ONLY WOMEN CAN HAVE. TOGETHER!.
