A True Short Story to Contemplate About.
Sultan Murad, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire would often anonymously go into the midst of the people and see their state. One evening, he felt an uneasiness in himself and the urge to go out.
He called for his head of security and out they went. They came to a busy vicinity, and found a man lying on the ground. The Sultan prodded him but he was dead and the people were going about their own business. Nobody seemed to care about the dead man lying on the ground.
The Sultan called upon the people. They didn't recognize him and asked him what he wanted. He said, "Why is this man lying dead on the ground and why does no one seem to care?Where is his family?"
They replied, "He is so and so, the drunkard and fornicator!"
The Sultan said, "Is he not from the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam)? Now help me carry him to his house"
The people carried the dead man with the Sultan to his house and once they reached, they all left. The Sultan and his assistant remained.
When the man's wife saw his dead body, she began weeping. She said to his dead body, "Allah have mercy on you! O friend of Allah! I bear witness that you are from the pious ones.”
The Sultan was bewildered. He said, "How is he from the pious ones when the people say such and such things about him. So much so that no one even cared he was dead?"
She replied, "I was expecting that. My husband would go to the tavern every night and buy as much wine as he could. He would then bring it home and pour it all down the drain.
He would then say, "I saved the Muslims a little today." He would then go to a prostitute, give her some money to bring her to our house and recite Quran to the woman till the morning. And he would say, "Today I saved a young woman and the youth of the believers from vice."
The people would see him buy wine and they would see him go to the prostitutes and they would consequently talk about him. One day I said to him, "When you die, there will be no one to bathe you, there will be no one to pray over you and there will be no one to bury you!"
He laughed and replied, "Don't fear, the Sultan of the believers, along with the pious ones shall pray over my body.
The Sultan began crying. He said, "By Allah! He has said the truth, for I am Sultan Murad. Tomorrow we shall bathe him, pray over him and bury him."
And it so happened that the Sultan, the scholars, the pious people and the masses prayed over him.
We judge people by what we see and what we hear from others. Only if we were to see what was concealed in their hearts, a secret between them and their Allah.
“O you who believe, abstain from many of the suspicions. Some suspicions are sins. And do not be curious (to find out faults of others), and do not backbite one another. Does one of you like that he eats the flesh of his dead brother? You would abhor it. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is Most-Relenting, Very-Merciful."

Bundle Of Misery
A must read: A wise true parable about life’s hardship.
A man used to call every night to God and he would pray the same prayer. Again and again he would ask, “Do one favor for me, at least one favor — and I have been asking my whole life. As far as I can see, I am the most miserable man on the earth. Why have you chosen me to be the most miserable? I am ready to exchange my misery with anybody else, anybody will do — just let me exchange my misery with somebody else. I don’t ask for bliss. Can’t you give me only this single opportunity to exchange my misery with somebody else? This is not asking much!”
And one night in a dream he saw God had spoken. A great voice came from the heavens saying, “Gather all of your miseries into bundles and bring them to the temple hall.”
So the whole town gathers their miseries into big bundles and they bring them. This man is tremendously happy: “So the moment has come! It seems something is going to happen!”
He rushes with his bundle. On the way he finds others also are rushing. By the time he reaches to the temple he becomes afraid, very afraid, because he sees people are carrying bigger bundles than his. People that he had always seen smiling — Rotarians, Lions — in beautiful clothes and always saying nice things to each other, and they are carrying bigger bundles! He starts becoming a little hesitant whether to go or not to go, but he has been praying his whole life, so he says, “Let us see what happens.”
They enter into the temple. The voice says, “Put your bundles around the hall.” They put their bundles, and the voice says again, “Now you can choose any bundle that you like.”
And the miracle of miracles happens: Everybody rushes to his own bundle! This man also rushes so fast towards his own bundle, afraid that if somebody else chooses it then he will be at a loss. Everybody has chosen his own bundle, with great relief and they are all happy, carrying their bundles back to their homes.
Even this man is very happy, for the simple reason that “Who knows what is in the other’s bundle? At least we are aware of our own bundle and what it contains. And we have become accustomed, we have become adjusted to our misery.”
Learn to slowly see past your pain, the true essence of your pain will lead you to start finding your way back home. Where you belong, where you will always belong. The real purpose in the gift we were given that we call ‘life’.
Always praise God in patience, even when you don’t understand why you’re going through what you are going through.
It will eventually lead you to understand what potential you hold within yourself and how such a broken person with even the smallest amount of light they have to offer, can light up even the darkest of places.
‘What will it take for you to realise you were not created for play or idle talk, to waste time or to get lost in the delusions of this life.’
What is your purpose in life?
Jo sukoon zindagi mein pehle kabhi na mila, is dukh ke sath chal kar. Aj mila hai aiseh hazaneh, tumareh raste per ah kar. Ya insaan* ye kya tumhe batao.. dil ki keemat kya hai.
The peace I couldn’t find anywhere in life before this, I only found when walking with my sorrows towards You. Today I have realised what treasures they are, that I have found along the way. What can I tell you *oh human (forgetful one). The price of this heart and what secrets and wonders I found within.
*Insan -
The word 'Insan" in arabic comes from root word "Nassian" meaning someone who forgets. That is exactly the point about us humans, we tend to forget that despite all our conflicts and quarrels the end is always lurking nearby. We should all move towards peace and goodwill for we are all temporary guests passing through.
