The very first episode of the season presents the viewer with its core theme from the very get go - How we learn to accept and deal with our traumatic experiences together - and it chooses to express that message through MK’s dynamic with Pigsy. All throughout Monkie Kid, there have been hints - implications even - of Pigsy and MK’s dynamic being much more than boss and employee - and in these last few seasons we’ve seen a dramatic shift towards father and son and I couldn’t be happier. From MK offhandedly saying that Pigsy was his dad last season (and Pigsy’s subsequent half denial) to today-era Pigsy openly telling MK that he loves him, calling him his son, and reminiscing on MK’s childhood.

I love that scene with Pigsy and Tang where Pigsy is struggling with the fact that he isn’t like Wukong - he’s not a borderline god (debatable) - and Tang’s response to it is “okay yeah sure but what you are is so much more than that - You Are His Dad. and you are the reason he is the kind of good person he’s become.” It’s not only fodder for the headcanons Ive has since season one but also just really great characterization for the three involved. Tang has been kind of reduced to just the coward comic relief as of, well, past the pilot really, so it’s nice to see some genuine characterization on his part.

Pigsy is by far my favorite character. He has been his the show first dropped. I’m glad for any Pigsy (Dadsy) content, no matter how small, and the crazy (and yet subtle) lore dumps of how truly important Pigsy has been to MK’s development is sooooo cool.

I love the small talk about noodles and about how Pigsy would make them to help MK sleep, I love the knowledge that Tang was there from the day MK arrived at the store, I love the baby MK picture in Tang’s(?) wallet, I love that he has a room upstairs that Pigsy used to carry him up to, and I love the hugs. Gosh the hugs.

Are we gonna find out about Macaque and Wukong finally?? Cause i believe Mac's Memories got manipulated somehow, and that Wukong didn't kill him.

I think this emplies that it's not actually true, and that is what Macaque thought that happened.

(Release my buddy, he did nothing wrong, he was just being silly your honor 😤) Bro's gonna be reliving his trauma 😬 I want to know why they punished Wukong specifically, because who almost destroyed the universe was Azure Lion, not him, so unless there's something im missing (very likely), then there might be something else we dont know that he did, that will appear in this new season. Maybe the kings of hell just judged he was mostly at fault? Or perhapse they are punishing Wukong for MK's actions since he is responsable for him? 🤷
