I'm really obsessed with the idea that LMK Wukong has kinda been outcast of the demon half of society.
Lego Monkie Kid has an interesting, often overlooked characteristic. That it is both a mythological and a futuristic world. It's like humans and mytho-creatures have evolved and lived within the same world since the beginning. And have reached the height of both technology and magic.
And the implications of the world building are fascinating. There is a literal heavenly court functioning as a governing party for the mythological society (and sometimes the human society). We have an afterlife underworld that is a reachable place, with its own governing body. We have kingdoms with queens and kings that function as sovereign land. Lots of Demon Royalty. Which kinda seems to create a sort of demon only hierarchy, with further implications of demon economics. But the crazy thing is that these society's lack true borders, they all overlap.
But back to the hook. Wukong being outcast of the demon half of society. Wukong is in his own right a king. A lot of the canon show villans (or simply even obstacles such as the Dragons which seem to hold the interesting place in lmk society of a high standing in all societies) are also royalty of some sort. Demon Bull King, Princess Iron Fan, Spider Queen, Lady Bone Demon, Scorpion Queen, the list goes on.
Monkey King was, as evident during the Brotherhood arc, a part of the demon society. He fought against Heaven (but seemed to enjoy demanding his way into their society) and seemed an outsider to the human world. Demon society (from what I can get from the show) seems to gain wealth and resources from trying to conquer human cities and possibly other demon territories.
Monkey King's Flower Fruit Mountain was already a rich kingdom. And Wukong (especially after stacking immortality buffs) was a sufficient enough army to protect said kingdom. He had demon allies and even still now garners respect (if disdainful) and fear from other demons. I see this as enough evidence to believe that Wukong originally was a respected (and feared) member of demon society.
It is canon that Wukong lived an incredibly isolated life before MK.
It is canon that he completed the Journey making plenty of enemies, especially whilst protecting a human monk from fellow demons.
And while Wukong himself is technically not a demon, he was a part of demon society (theoretically).
And now he seemingly is not.
The argument could be made that Wukong is simply not part of any society or that demon society is fully integrated with human society, leaving my idea debunked. (But again, the show is as clear as a kids cartoon can be, that the demons within human society are special cases and not a fully integrated demographic).
And LMK has kinda given us this interesting dynamic with Wukong being beloved by humanity, detested by demons, and having an uneasy alliance with the celestials. (More so on the last one, if LMK has adapted Wukong's ascension into the Victorious Fighting Buddha).
Anyway, all that just to say I like to play around with the idea that Wukong is kinda the demon society equivalent of a "canceled" celebrity.
Also, if anyone would like (for a lack of a better word) an example. I'd be totally down to post a snippet of a fic I'm working on where I mess around with this idea.
